What's everyones views on Juggernauts on the battlefield?
I picked one last month and I've been considering getting a few more and fielding them as a chosen or retinue squad. Is this wise?
I usually play a shooty undivided army(I haven't painted most of them yet so no fixed legion at the mo), although I feel a unnatural pull towards Khorne.
Anyone else using Juggernauts? whats your tactics?
You can afford all those juggernauts?!? :w00t: heh hehOriginally Posted by BrianBlessed
I'll be honest and say that i'm not a World Eater player. Just remember that juggernauts don't confer any movement advantage, and an entire squad of chosen aspiring champions, is incredibly expensive point wise.
They would be, however, very very fluffy and very very cool.
With regards to paint schemes, i would advise you to devise your own for the following reasons:
1. originality and personal satisfaction
2. you can change which legion they are at will. Black Legion today, Alpha legion tomorrow, Word bearers the day after (and the probably alpha legion again ^_^)
Good luck Mr Blessed - I admire your mighty beard!
I hear what your saying, they are expensive both points and moneywise. I guess I'm gonna have to hang around on ebay for a few months chasing down those bargains.
He's been playtested against some greenskins just about making his points back and sending the rest of the mob running, I used a chaos lord with a juggernaut and a great weapon, he was dishing out S6 attacks but thats going to involve alot of converting.
It can be a bit worrying watching your chaos lord in the fight all on his own, but I'm begining to think that if I use more than one they'd have a hard time earning their keep. Saying that I just can't shake the image of five juggernauts trampling across the battlefield.:w00t:
Argh I'm so undecided what am I gonna do.
Just remember, Chaos HQs are great against squads of infantry so you're using him just right. Watch out for hidden powerfists/weapon in a squad though (as in a sergeant lurking in the squad that needs 8 marines killed before you get him type thing)
I'm no World Eater player, BUT i know that Khornate HQs can have some really killer combinations.
I'd advise two more things:
Consider a Khorne heavy Undivided army
Post a list, say 1000 or 1500 and let the experts disect it for you.
I'm not that far away from a 1000pts(if they'll let me use Cypher and some fallen), I'll post my list after the next battle. I've purposely not assembled all the marines completely yet in order to give me a bit of freedom playtesting. So any suggestions are welcome.
It is a great beard isn't it, Brian Blessed must be half dwarf.
Juggernaugts Can be very cool to include in a squad champion upgrade. The plus side gets you a bonus wound , attack and strength for a little cheaper than buying each one seperatley but it eats up a number of points that could be spent on other chaos upgrades. Like a Tobb or Aok; 2 pieces of gear that are a must against a Meq army. Over all the option not to field a jugg comes down to price. that 35 point upgrade could have gotten you a PF, spikey bits and a strengh bonus. The jugg is a bad choice IMHO for a IC because they cannot make use of any other Movment mod and once again eats up a large chunk of all or nothing points.
I have a Jugg that I field in smaller points games where the staying power can be a little more benificale.

Thought for the day: A Burning Heretic , Will brighten the Decor of any room.
Hmmm a squad champ upgrade, I didn't think of that, thanks adeptjosh.
The guy I play most against insists on using as many points as possible, so I often end up with a wargear heavy army. But I can see the points getting to be a problem soon.
Whats an IC by the way?
Hey,As a points miser, I'd need a pretty compelling reason to pay for Juggers.Originally Posted by BrianBlessedIMO, Retinues, point-wise and rule-wise, aren't a 'wise' choice, no.fielding them as a chosen or retinue squad. Is this wise? Then here's a sneaky idea based on these premises -I haven't painted most of them yet so no fixed legion
* You're going to field Juggers because you like the models
* You're all right with the costly impact of having Chosen in your list
* You're not married to Khorne yet, and want some list flexibility
Then, how about -
A Lord modeled on a Jugger who joins a Unit of 5 Elite Chosen also modeled on Juggers.
Note that the Lord remains an IC, and may join and leave the Chosen Unit at will.
Here's the kicker -
Use Undivided Legion rules and field the Jugger models as - Daemonic Steeds!
Wait til your first opponent witnesses heavy, trundling Juggers - with afterburners!
Casually remark "Yes, they're Steeds. They're 20pts less than Juggers, you know".
Watch his eyes when they unfurl their Daemon Icon Banner . . . X- D
Plus, you can reinstate the Jugger A and S bonuses for only 15pts, if you like.
So you could end up with Fast Juggers in a non-Khorne list for 5pts less each!
Oh, man. I'm getting excited about the idea, myself . . . :- )
Caveat: This crime against humanity weighs-in at @370pts.
Some good ideas there Playa, Juggers as daemonic steeds, hmm interesting it just might work. I've found retinues expensive too especially in my Blood Ravens where I end up taking lots of heavy weapons and specialists.
For now my army is around 750 points whereas most of the the people I play have about 1500pts so I can waste points on wargear for the time being.
I think next time I play I'm gonna try Adeptjsh's idea of using the Juggernaut as an upgrade for the berzerker champ(this will be the first time I've playtested berzerkers). Or keep him as a chaos lord and put him in control of some berzerkers. I'll probably keep the great weapon and try and find a suitable model to use for the conversion.
