There is no right choice. You have to pick an army which suits your character, with a colour scheme and history you like, and a playing style you can work with.

Really, you cant just let everyone pick your teams for you. you have to find the one you like best.

Well if you like Psykers then Tzeentch is for you. But... they are very limited in their force choices, bt they do have the benefit of 2 wounds per CSM.

Well, there are 2 ways of playing a Tzeentch army:

1. Is to play a Thousand Sons army. I myself play one and have 1700 pts. They are quite difficult to play with. Especially against shooty CSM and SM players. But about 80 % of all people i meet have just that combination. S8+ weapons are your enemy.
Thousand Sons are very limited and expensive(pts wise), you might be intimidated. They cant have heavy or special weapons. They can have quite expensive magics that has a max range of 24" but are assault. Because of this one must buy alot of heavy support to make up for it.. I myself use 1 predator, 1 dread and 1 defiler in 1500 pts games. And i can also say that TS are very difficult to play with under 1000 pts....
If you want to learn more go here:

2. Is to play Tzeentch oriented army. You buy want you want and dont follow the rules for Thousand Sons. Maybe just 1-2 units of TS and some regular CSM that is painted in TS colours... Then you can use any unit in the CSM codex...

i have a thousand sons army. they are very tricky to play. you can't really take any heavy weapons, and nothing but bolters don't really cut it in my experiance. musts for that army are
a; defiler
b; bolt of change
c; either chosen or possessed

avoid close combat like the plague

But remember, for that 2 wounds you pay 10 pts per figure + some extra stuff(mostly bad stuff). But its all there in the codex. Read it carefully....
There is much you cant have....

No, close combat is fun for us. I usually have 1-2 units in each game that is CC oriented. Like this:

8 TS + sorceror(wind of chaos, power fist, CCW, d.mutation, 1 thrall, rhino, smoke)

That unit can kick ass in the TAR. They have to kill 16 wounds worth of figures before they can touch the AC. But watch out for power fist wielding champs as they instant kill our sons.

My standard shooty sons consist of this:

8 TS + sorceror (Bolt of Change, power fist/sword, CCW, 3 Thralls)

Also, flamers are very good.. Against 4+ armies anyway...
