Hey guys, I am painting my friends Berzerkers for him because he doesn't have time or like to paint and I had a question. He asked me to paint them world eaters colors which I am started, but I am a fan of giving each squad some kind of signature paint job so that I can tell which squad each Berzerker belongs to once they are all in the same fight. I think I have narrowed down my designation to one of two things and I would like to know which one you think will look better.
1)Shoulder pad color--Would be red, and then the special insignia would be either black, gold, or mithril/boltgun. The problem with this is that I still want to paint the rest of them similar to the WE on the box and I think the black and mithril ones would not look right because their shoulder markings would be too different from the rest of the paint job.
2)Helmet topper color--Helmet would look normal until you get to the top part that is normally red with gold trim. Each squad would change the interior red portion to it's squads designated color (probably red, Black, and maybe brass [if it isn't too similar to gold] or bonewhite). I think this seems like the better idea, but could also make the look kind of funny compared to other people's WE armies.
If you do or have seen something different I would love to hear about it, otherwise let me know which idea you think sounds best. thanks.
How about weapon color? Each squads chainsword/chainaxe can be a different color; black, red, white, brass, and silver. All suitibly bloody of course.

I favor the helmet topped color. The shoulder pads are for more noticable than the inside of the helmet top and therefor would look too wierd compared to other WE armies. Using the inside of the helmet tops would be less noticible to other players and still keep each signature troop look. As far as colors go I would choose something that you can tell apart from the others but not so radically different like painting it a snot green.
40,000- 7,000 Points Chaos Space Marines=18 and 17
40,000- 2,500 Points Tau Empire=1 and 2
Since they're Chaos (Still, Khornate, but that has to come from Chaos, ehich is higher), why not make swirls of flowing colour.
If it's black it'll look good with the random designs... Making the armour look twisted and deforemed. If it's any other colour, go for a gradient. Like some areas along the edge of the major extremeties (like the greaves or even shoulderpad) from the other colour to red to signify Khorne's influence taking them over completely.
With the AC, maybe make it all the normal colour and put a red coat on top of that, it'll retain a small level of the original colour but won't show... Just tint the red a little.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
How about the rim of the base?

I think the best option would be to change the colour of the flat shoulder pad(the one without a skull or whatever on it). Keep the out line the same colour as the other one and just paint the inside different colours. Then just paint stripes or something to show they are from the same unit.
