So, following my last thread I had my girlfriend go and buy me the latest Codex edition from the GW near her office, and I read the FAQ that identifies where it should edition number but all that is there is "Reprinted April 2006." I thumbed through it to note any changes from the one I have and the only thing I could find is that Oblits have T 4/5 now. I was under the impression that the third edition of the codex also changed the wording of the Doom Siren so that the wielder always strikes first, versus strikes in initiative sequence. Sooo... did I get the wrong codex? I sure hope I can return it if so... I only bought it since I thought there would be some major changes but I can't see any yet.
Echu, two things.
1) have you tried reading the faqs?
2) you should probably have replied to the previous thread rather than start a new one. it was last active 4 days ago, no way would that be necro posting.
The codex you have sounds about ok. The doom siren is a misprint - it's initiative order.
The biggest giveaway is the description for berserker glaive. No flight or speed with beserker glaive.
NO FLIGHT OR SPEED WITH BESERKER GLAIVE
I did read the FAQ about codex editions but like I said above, all it says is Reprinted April 2006. At any rate, the Berserker Glaive description doesn't mention no speed or flight, it just says that the bearer cant join another unit or ride a Steed.
So, what does that mean?
It most likely means you don't have the right codex. Here's some further clarification:
Direct wording from the Berserker Glaive entry, of the 3rd printing of Codex: Space Mariners. (pg. 48 ).
"...The bearer cannot then join another unit, be accompanied by Followers or ride a Steed...The Bearer must always sweeping advance when victorious in close combat (unless wearing Terminator armour) and cannot use any special movement modes..."
When it says "special movement modes", this refers to anything that changes the amount you can move, for example, D. Flight and D. Speed.
The "..." represent parts that I left out, FYI (for your information).
April 2006 is third printing, it even says so right below the Games Workshop address and all the legalese junk. Third Printing is the most recent. Also, go download the Official WH40k FAQ update (it's new) and the Chaos 4.2 FAQ update (linked in the stickies). The only thing you need from the Chaos 4.2 is the doom siren update (all the rest are in 3rd print).
The only thing on GW shop is the 4.0 update... what do you mean 4.2?
good find playa
