I know this is a common question and I know the answer is in the FAQ. Just I have some questions.
My freind has a very powerful Khorne deamon prince which you probably guess by now uses the Beserker Glaive and Demonic Speed. I have noted he uses the second printing of the Chaos Codex and told him that there is a 3rd printing which nullifies this combination.
Thing is he refuses to get the latest codex and carries on playing with his super deamon prince that can move and assualt a maximum of 30" with 8 attakcs on the charge. Im fed up with arguing with him and I feel bad everytime I bring up the subject as I am often being moaned at for bringing up rules as im starting to get a bad reputation for that.
For example; one game he put a plasma gun on his biker aspiran champion and declared it would be exempt of the "gets hot" rule since he is classed as a vehicle. I had to then show and state that it will still "get hot" as he is not classed as a vehicle. There is no indication bikes are and that a bike is a wargear item, also a bike is unable to buy vehicle upgrades - hence it is not a vehicle.
This kind of stuff happens every game and I become the person who supposedly cheats the rules for my advantage when infact i seem to be the only one that knows them!
Basically what im asking is; is there any way I can make this guy play sensibly with his Daemon Prince? Im fed up of being the guy who moans all the time and I dont want to get to the point of not playing him at all.
Well, you could always refuse to play him
I mean, it sure sucks if he would be the only guy you can play against... but it's either that or losing to someone who doesn't WANT TO KNOW the actual rules.
I don't really have any advice on what to do with your problem, but I can relate to you. I am one of the only people I know that actually knows almost all the rules. And when there's something not right, and I correct it and it goes my way, I'm accused of cheating. It's really annoying.
Hive Fleet Vicarius
A small splinter fleet of Leviathan. Fights mainly on iceworlds. 2200pts
Crazy music guy - 5 instruments, guitar, piano, double bass, bass guitar, voice.
This is immature, but you should do it to raise a point. Take an old codex of the army that you play, and use advantageous material from there. For example, paying nothing for MOCU with Chaos or something. Or paying 10 points for Dark Angel termie armour or something stupid.
When he complains, simply smile and say, "When you update, so will I."
If this simply stokes the flames of stupidity. You have no option but to stop playing against him.
The Chaos codex is a little tricky, but it's not brain surgery. If he's not being constructive in seeking a means to end the problem and he's not even open to dialogue.. it seems that the roads are closed to you my friend.
Do you play this friend at GW?
If not then i'll have to echo everything said above^
If so then without trying to sound like a telltale ask GW staff members to try and sort out the problem with this person. I no how annoying it is when people use purely illegal troops or combinations and this ruins the gaming experience!
May I just ask why it is illegal to use speed and bezerker glaive together? I ask only for my own knowledge!
Simply. It says so in the most recent codex. It's in black and white. There's no quarter for argument.
So, in conclusion, You cannot combine bezerker glaive and speed/flight
With regards to asking GW staff.. it's worth a shot,.. but don't hold your breath. The store members themselves probably don't have a clue either. it's definitely a great idea to get some sort of authority on it though .
The chances are, he won't accept it though.
I have temporary explosive amnesia, i think i forgot to mention
You cannot combine bezerker glaive and speed/flight
Although off topic, the guys at my local shop are really friendly and helpful. Yet, another one within the city encourage kids to take 2 defilers at 500 points, will gladly recommend land raiders to a beginner and generally be arses.
Swings and roundabouts.
**Incase anyone's wondering which rule i'm referring to, it's the rule whereby you cannot have bezerker glaive with flight/speed
I got into a big argument with a friend over just that. We didn't have the new printing. Apparently I'm abusing the rules to my advantage because I challenged him on the subject. Of course the only reason i challenged him was because I don't like things outrunning my falcon...
What army do you play? I'll find some rules problems for you that you can abuse. Eventually he'll either have to give up playing you or agree that neither of you will abuse the rules.
Check out my Codex: Farmyard Animals here!
If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
Inform him that the Codex was updated because fast Glaives unbalance Chaos lists.is there any way I can make this guy play sensibly with his Daemon Prince?
Explain that, as they're banned at Tourneys, you feel they're not suitable for friendly games.
He'll now be in the position of letting you know whether he's *interested* in friendly games.
Once armed with that knowledge, you should be able to make an informed decision. You seem to be feeling pooly because of another's unreasonable behavior. My sympathies.Im fed up of being the guy who moans all the time and I dont want to get to the point of not playing him at all.
