Hey... I'm just in the process of building up a small Chaos army, and I had a few questions about some rules.
1) Daemonic Speed + Mark of Khorne -- Is it possible to get the movement bonuses from both? (I.e., I roll and get Blood Frenzy which adds d6 to my normal move... Can I also use fleet, as per the rules for Daemonic Speed, and move an extra 2d6 inches?)
2) Feel No Pain -- The codex says that it can't be used against a close combat weapon "which allows no saves." Is this supposed to mean "no armor saves" or only weapons that allow NO save at all?
3) Modelling my HQ -- It says that a Lord with over 50 pts of Daemonic gifts can claim to be a Daemon Prince -- does this mean that I'm required to model him as such? Or can I still use a Lord model?
Hello! Welcome to Chaos! Welcome to LO! WOOO! WOOO!..... woooHeh.. the path to ruin.Hey... I'm just in the process of building up a small Chaos army, and I had a few questions about some rules.No. Special movement modes overide the bloodfrenzy rule. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you and anyone else fortunate enough to read this.. but:1) Daemonic Speed + Mark of Khorne -- Is it possible to get the movement bonuses from both? (I.e., I roll and get Blood Frenzy which adds d6 to my normal move... Can I also use fleet, as per the rules for Daemonic Speed, and move an extra 2d6 inches?)
you cannot take bezerker glaive with speed/flight
If you think you can, you're either using an old codex or being a stubborn mule.Potential for rules lawyering here i guess, but it's accepted to mean armour save. The thinking is that, if you're wounded by a powerfist, there'll be no flesh left to feel the pain in the fist place.2) Feel No Pain -- The codex says that it can't be used against a close combat weapon "which allows no saves." Is this supposed to mean "no armor saves" or only weapons that allow NO save at all?Abstract ones such as strength, aura, resilience are thought of as being hard to model, and thus you'll probably be ok without. Mutation, Speed, Flight, Daemon weapons, spikey bitz need to be fairly represented or you need to inform your opponent if it's a friendly.3) Modelling my HQ -- It says that a Lord with over 50 pts of Daemonic gifts can claim to be a Daemon Prince -- does this mean that I'm required to model him as such? Or can I still use a Lord model?
Notice the codex goes on to say... 'and must be modelled appropriately' or something of that nature.
Thanks for the clarifications -- and yes, thankfully, I did get the point that the Glaive can't be combined with movement options, lol..
The one question that still remains, though, is this -- Is it a hard and fast rule that a Chaos Lord with over 50 pts of gifts MUST be modelled as a Daemon Prince? The codex says that sucha Lord "can" claim to be a Daemon prince, so I'm wondering. It's not so much a matter of trying to cheese anything out, I just really love the model I made for my Lord and don't want to shift to a big ol' daemon prince
Im sure in a friendly game a real friend wouldnt mind. You can try it in a real match but some people might not like it but IMO I wouldnt care.
I almost forgot to say WELCOME TO CHAOS. Its so nice to see newcomers fall to the taint of evil, death, and destruction muwhahaha.
40,000- 7,000 Points Chaos Space Marines=18 and 17
40,000- 2,500 Points Tau Empire=1 and 2
It seems to me like you're mixing up the definitions of Daemon Prince and Statured Daemon Prince.
A Daemon Prince is one of two things:
1) A Lord with more than 50points of gifts and a banana milkshake.
2) A Lord with Daemonic stature.
Your lord maybe number 1, so you have to model the mutations and speed and stuff, BUT he doesn't have to be the massive Statured Lord. He can be the same size as a marine.
I'm going to jump off the fence and say, if your lord has over the threshold that you really should model it on the model.
It's quite stinky to take a normal looking chap, then move him about 12" and just say, 'oh yeah, he's got flight y'know?".
y'know? Or do i have to draw one of my zen diagrams again?
On that note it says that a Statured Prince must be at least 10" high and be modeled on a 40mm base. I haven't done any measurements here but thats larger than the normal lord model right? (not counting the banners or what not on top... or can you count those too?) I have a statured lord but I use my Termi Lord to proxy him for the moment. I know I should use a Daemon Prince model but I just don't care for it... especially since my lord uses Speed not Flight... shouldn't they have a model with wheels instead?
What do you guys do to model a Daemon Prince?
10' is not really that much taller than a Terminator model anyway. Regular Space marines are almost 8'tall. It not too much of a stretch to model in a larger/wider torso with a little added to the legs/feet. It is pretty easy with a plastic SM/CSM and some green stuff.
hm, think people will complain that he looks like a terminator lord? i am not too good with the green stuff so i don't want to mod him that much =P
anyother easy options?
Oh, I guess I've been around long enough to say it, WELCOME TO CHAOS!
