This is in the general topic thread because it is not a list, instead it is a discussion on a specific unit configuration.
I am planning on using a retinue of chosen terminators in a land raider for my tsons army at 2000 points. The plan is to run my lieutenant with them and they hop in the land raider and will be an anti terminator/heavy infantry/anything tough unit. The big thing is that I am not capitalizing on thier psychic abilities, so please let me know your opinions concerning both that and if they are too many points for a 2000 point army.
Lieutenant; Mark of Tzeentch; Power Weapon; Bolt Pistol; Bolt of Change(30); 1 Thrall Wizard; D Strength 116 Points
4 Chosen Terminator Retinue; Mark of Tzeentch; Icon; 3 Combi-Meltaguns; Aspiring Champion with Power Weapon and Combi-Meltagun and D Strength 239 points
Land Raider; Smoke Launchers 253 points
total of a whopping 608 points
statistically, the unit hops out of the land raider and kills 6.75 termies, or 10.25 marines with shooting and a following cc all at I4 or higher, so against power fist termies(which i expect much more often than assualt ones) i can wipe many before they attack.
do you think that this plan is folly?
What is your opinion towards land raiders?
do you think i need to adjust my config?
thankyou for all input.
It all sounds very nice, and if it goes to plan, i wouldn't like to be on the receiving end.
But... a single ravager (100pts approx) has a pretty good chance of wasting over a quarter of your army in 1 round of shooting.
Something about eggs in baskets springs to mind. All it takes is one heavy potato in that basket...

I have found that using Chosen and not taking powers ends up falling short. You'll get more use out of them as Rubic Terminators with 2 wounds. If you have to take combi-melt guns upgrade the Rubic to Champs and take the combi-meltas. I'll cost more, but the survivability will off set the point cost.
DarkBishop, Im not exactly sure i know what you mean. rubric terminators can have only one champ, as they are based on the standard troop unit. I already have essentially made them champs, that is to say that they have access to the meltas i want from being chosen. I am using them as a retinue as well, so they must be chosen unless i use five of them, which would leave no room in the raider for my lieutenant.
