I need some general advice and ideas for my Emporers Children Army with regards to utterly shredding an opponent quickly and with ease. I'm working on my army list and hopefully what I learn from this shall aid me in my quest for WORLD CONQUEST!...or at least get me started on the right track. I have a few questions too.
I want my army to be OVERRUN WITH DAEMONS!! * laughs psychotically*...er...well at least be daemon heavy. I want a couple of Defilers as well . Which leads to the question of how can I use a daemon heavy army with Defliers to its full effect? Actually, how can I use Defilers themselves to their full effect?
Also, How can I get rid of that pesky librarian Joshuah Danaan? Last time I went up against Libertys Vanguard he raped my Keeper of Secrets of all life before I got a chance to have fun with it! *glares at Joshuah*
Thats all I can think of, and Im still not sure on what I want in my army. Any ideas are much appreciated...
Hey, leave Joshuah out of this!
All the advice I can give you is: Avoid Chosen, they get very expensive VERY quickly.
Possessed would be a good fast-moving unit, but again, very pricey.
Avoid your rapid fire guns, I know you want an assaulty army.
Anything else, I can't think of right now.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
Emperors Children however have the ultimate equaliser, it's called a Sonic Blaster
I love these bad boyz and their bigger brother the Blastmaster is even better.
I tool up a 12 man squad (twice your magic number so you get your champion for free) and then march across the board - that's 24 bolter shots a round - 36 if you stand still!!!
Yes this attracts a lot of enemy fire but when you've got a squad of Possessed roaring down the table in a Rhino on one flank accompanied by Furies and your General and his retinue roaring down the other flank in a Rhino accompanied by Raptors then your opponent won't know what to shoot at.
Oh yes a six man Havoc squad with 4 Blastmasters, two Sonic Blasters and Infiltrate Veteran Ability is a good buy as well :shifty: just imagine the trouble they can get into heh heh heh
Just beware - the mail order cost for the arms to tool up your Children is going to be seriously pricey
Firstly, since you want to play a Daemon heavy army, and you're playing Slaanesh, it sounds like you'd do well to play Siren Bomb - arguably the most infamous list in the game (the only rival that I can think of is Victory Point Denial Eldar, but that's another thread right there ).
To pull off the Siren Bomb, you're going to need a key unit - a Chaos Sorcerer Lord of Slaanesh on a bike. You'll need to trick him out with some Minor Psychic powers (six should be enough), because you want to maximize your chances of rolling the Siren Minor Psychic power, which makes your Lord immune to weapons fire and being assaulted. Deploy that Lord behind cover, and shoot into the open using Turbo Boost to close the distance as quickly as possible. Come the beginning of your 2nd turn, your Daemons should start popping out of the Personal Icon that your Lord carries, making certain that your Daemons make it to the lines of the enemy unharmed.
Secondly, you want a lot of Daemonettes. From my various conversations with E!, I've come to the conclusion that you already own a lot of these, so you should be okay on that front.
Finally, I'd like to suggest that you don't take Defilers when using the Siren Bomb army. Come 2nd turn, the majority of the enemy army should be engaged with a horde of Daemonettes, which means that it's very difficult for your Defiler(s) to find a shot worth taking. The only use that I can see for a Defiler (or more ), is to make sure that units that may deploy to avoid your Daemon swarm can't totally escape danger, and will help ensure that you don't find yourself on the receiving end of a rather brutal counter-attack.
Hope that helped some, dear.
Here's a daemonbomb Slaanesh army that I've used before. This is from memory so it's a bit fuzzy:
Mark of Slaanesh
Chaos Bike, Sonic Blaster
2x6 Chaos Bikes
Mark of Slaanesh
Sonic Blasters, 2 Meltaguns
Champs with Swords and Strength
Open up in the name of the Lawl!
Daemons plus defilers..eep..Originally Posted by Blood of Slannesh
Not an easy combo to run. Personally, I'd drop the defiler idea.. There are far better things to put in heavy support slots.. EC works best as a balanced list in opinion, so consider taking a good mix of firepower and assault power. In my opinion (for those who don't know it) the sonic blaster only really works on bikes and terminators.. otherwise avoid them like the plague. They're short ranged, two handed bags of points waiting to be snatched by your opponent.Originally Posted by Squig69

The way multiple blast markers now work means that they're downright nasty, and best of all they can stay outside of bolter range meaning they aren't going to be laughably gunned down. All in all, a far better investment of points than paying a thousand sons price tag for a fragile short ranged shooting unit.
For assault.. Try a bike squad, a couple of packs of daemonettes and, if you're using a keeper of secrets, a rhino mounted BP squad or two. Don't make the mistake of just getting daemonettes and thinking it will see you through assault.. Daemonettes are shock troops who are great for killing specific high-points targets. They won't hold the line in an attrition battle. Basic CC noise marines are a very efficient, reliable choice, especially with a power weapon/daemonic strength (and visage if the rhino has a warp amp.. it's evil) champion.
Avoid chosen, as Mance said, and possessed are good but probably not worth it outside of bigger games. Wait until you've got a solid core of bodies in place. EC are always going to suffer problems with numbers anyway, so anything which pads your army out is good.Keep your keeper of secrets as far away from Librarians as possible. The Keeper is a great unit, and I use one myself, but they aren't for fighting characters or other monstrous creatures (though it can manage the occasional carnifex.) Use them to kill expensive, low initiative squads if you can.. They're fantastic in this role.Originally Posted by Blood of Slannesh

Just a quick note - if you're doing a pure Emperor's Children army, I very much recommend keeping your Daemonette squad sizes at 6, maximum. Don't get any more, because you'll either lose the Favoured status (which can really help you out in a bind), or it will make you have way too many models to summon at once. Six is a great number, as they are fairly cheap units and still get quite a few Rending attacks, especially when on the charge.
edit: Oh, and Mantis, your last quote is.. well, misquoted. Blood didn't say that, Squig69 did.
Sorry.. I've corrected it.
My ideal 'daemon heavy' list list would probably go something like this:
KoS with gift or wind.
4 packs of 6 daemonettes each
2 squads of 6 cc noise marines in warp amping rhinos (one AC will be the daemonhost)
Either 1 or 2 bike squads.. depending on how much summoning flexibility you want.
Possibly some mounted daemonettes if you can spare them.
2 blastmaster havoc squads, possibly with tank hunters if you plan on facing heavy armour (daemonettes are pretty inadequate tankbusters, despite the rending.)
Even this suffers from the same old daemon bomb problems, but unlike a 'nothing but daemonettes' army it has a decent, flexible range of stuff to deal with all kinds of enemy units.

The experience of others in this thread should not be underestimated, very worthy these people are:yes: i see some good ideas.
although if u want a defiler, take it!
excluding a situation where you infiltrate/summon 'en mass' i think it's unprobable that "deamon-bombing" with some extra CSM bodies following behind will be enough to tie up the whole board. there should be plenty of room to blast some poor bloke to the heavens. a deamonette isnt really expensive, and when Indirect works, MAN IT WORKS! give a defiler a couple of breasts it may even look good enough to just leave alone! ok prob not but it'd look the part. scatter is always a problem/risk, aim away from your stuff a bit, dont hit your stuff as much. um....that rhymes. unintentional.
what i'm saying is, standard board is 6x4 foot.... could a defiler help to "herd" the opponent a little bit? of course that would help. dont want 6x deamonettes stretched too thin across the board do ya? they'll be less 'one-trick' than Rough Riders! i prefer units of 12, it seriously gets the job done, esp if opponent has an attached IC, although if u wanna go Daemon Heavy 6 is good for flexibility.
and mounted daemonttes are a great consideration. get'em if u can:yes:
if you dont want bikes, like me, than just pay for your champs and get an Oblit, or raptors. they help any situation.
other than that, look to the list above

Just thought I'd put that out there.
Okay, Grace. Take that Defiler with Parasitic Possession so it's not just devoted to long-range bombardment, the npossibly dedicate it to Slaanesh and therefore give it Warp Amp. Expensive yes, but you're not really worried about that, are you?
If you want to put all your eggsa in one basket, don't. Indirect fire and a Parasitic possession on a Mobile Defiler with Warp Amp & Living Vehicle is just too much.
BUT one without Indirect fire would do fine, with or without Living Vehicle (pts wise, without is better for the army).
There was the idea you had of using 2 12-strong Marine squads... Back them up with some Havocs armed with a lot of painful things and Infiltrate some of them...
