The table is in the attachment (I had to ZIP it, as it was a bit too large). It includes every Chaos ranged weapon I could think of, every basic troop choice I could think of (some are mashed together, like Imperial Guardsmen and Eldar Guardians into GEQ), plus Termies, Eldar Farseer and the toughest unit ever, the Nightbringer.Originally Posted by theyak
The numbers are the average amount of wounds this weapon causes against the chosen troop type.
The amount of shots is N for Heavy N and Assault N, 2 for Rapid Fire and Pistols, 1 for blast weapons, ordnance weapons and template weapons (stick some minis under your own template to find out the right multiplier).
Ordnance and flamer-like weapons are counted as having 100% hit rate.
Kai Gun and Laspistol use the BS of a Lord and a Cultist respectively.
Comments and corrections are always welcome.
Wow, that will save time when trying to figure what to add next. Thank you very much *Repped*.

Quick question about the math. For the first cell you have 0.22222 wounds.
I'm coming up with:
1/2 (BS4) x 1/2(S4 vs T4) x 2/6 (3+ armor save) x 2 (rapid fire) = 0.16666 wounds on an MEQ from a BS4 bolter.
I'm doing this from memory, no books at work.

Either way, thanks!!

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Ah-ha, my love of heavy bolters is to blame for this error in my table:
If after scanning through it you screamed and ripped off the autocannon off your Dreadnought or Defiler to replace it with a twin-linked heavy bolter, you might start thinking about putting it back: for some reason I gave the TLHBs an extra shot.
The correct wound rating for a TLHB is:
0.592592593 0.296296296 2.222222222 2.222222222 1.777777778 2.222222222 1.777777778 2.222222222 0.740740741 1.111111111 0.222222222
No more killing a Guardsman with every shot.
The regular h.bolter is correct, though.
Nice mathammering, thanks very much for this.
Clearly we can determine from this chart: when facing the Nightbringer, you'd better be packing the needler .
