Any IW or SM veteran have/use vindicator in their army list? What's the pro and cons for vindicator? I'm thinking of getting one from GW for future use but not sure if it's worth it for normal games or tourney. Does anyone ever get the conversion kit from forge world, what does it consist of? I'm pretty confuse of the normal complete kit and the conversion kit atm. Can anyone tell me plz..
Never interrupt your opponent when you know he is making a mistake!
Well, i've proxied a vindicator for a few games and I have to say I don't care for it. It is always the first thing destroyed and I am lucky to get off one pie plate a turn. This is with MH and DP on the tank...
In some senses this is good because it allows you to reposition some of your other units or do some trickery, but as IW I find that more often than not I just sit back and shoot and don't assault. Thus, my movement is limited and focusing on one tank versus the rest of the army doesn't allow me to follow through with my game plan any better. I suppose a Vindi with 2 rhino's as a screen would work well, but they are a huge target.
Then again, it is immensely satisfying to drop a plate on top of your opponents DS'd terminators. I say try it out and if it works into your battleplan then buy one. I would hope your regular opponents wouldn't mind a proxy.
Yes, but two very expensive diversions. If you want a unit that makes its points back, the vindicator is not it. However, if you want a unit to decoy for you and cause a little mayhmem, then the vindicator is golden.
The best thing about the vindicator is that it is an ordinance tank which falls under the mark for expensive upgrades.
Personally, I'd give it parasitic possession rather than mutated hull. It'd be just as survivable, and would no longer be screwed when someone blew off the main gun.
If you're going to be stereotypically iron warriorish about it and just sit back and shoot statically for the whole game, there's probably no point in a vindicator. However, if you also have some more immediate psychological threats, like possessed or close combat marines in rhinos, then the vindicator will not likely not get shot as hard, and won't be left unsupported when it rolls forward.
The other option is to use it like the SM version.. give it a dozer blade, sit it in cover and then drive forward to pie plate troops who are charging your battleline. It's an expensive threat, but it may well make assaulting you a much hairier prospect.
I have always liked my vindicator, and only gives it Daemonic Possession, which is worth it.
Would it always make back its points? Depends. I have nine tanks in my IW army, so it is good to keep the enemy focused on the Vindicator while I kill everything else. If not, the Vindicator can get in close and really take a few things out.
I personally never pass out on S10 weapons. Now I have S10 in both CC and Shooting.
