So yeah, how would you kill them? They are pain in my butt and continue to be. Autocannons just don't cut it! Serious, everytime I unload a volley of shots into the suckers I've never been able knock out a Eldar Skimmer because of the "roll two and pick lowest" junk, still by far the most broken part of them. I know this subject has beating the horse into dust, but I still would like to hear from you guys again, preferably new ideas or strats. Have a good Christmas ya'll.
Tank Hunting Autocannons, Tank Hunting Lascannons, Melta Guns... the typical ways. They can just take a serious beating, so massed firepower is definitely the way to go. You can't ignore them because of the firepower they can dish out (not to mention the dangerous squads lurking inside of them..).
Autocannons are, by and large, the best answer. If they still refuse to come down, get more autocannons.
That said, remember, Eldar skimmers are expensive. They should be hard to bring down.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
Fine, let me start my vehicle bashing Excel table...
Guess what? The best thing you have are TH AC Havocs. 0,684371665 chance to destroy one Eldar skimmer.
Next best thing are 3xMelta Raptors. 0,706597222
A Melta-toting CSM squad is also good. 0,558453804
Wait. Eldar Skimmers? With Holo-Fields and those energy fields? This severely lowers all the values, especially those of Meltas.
I guess TH AC are your best choice, anyway.
The eldar skimmer you're looking to roll either: doubles of 5 or 6, or one of each to destroy them. They can be a big pain in the butt. Their survivability is quite impressive, but usually you can at least keep them from shooting, and if you can keep them from moving too, then they'll be dead the next turn(should).
Blast em, and if they aren't blown up, then BLAST em AGAIN!, and if it STILL isn't blown up, BLAST IT YET AGAIN!
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Against skimmers, it's a very bad idea to take weapons with a strength greater than 8. Eldar skimmers are notorious for reducing ranged strength weapons to 8, which renders lascannons much less effective. As people have said, it's easier to take skimmers out with lots of shots, rather than a few high powered ones. My vote goes to the TH autocannon- no surprise there.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
It's a lot of firepower you need to down one falcon though. all the time you're sweating about the falcon, the eldar player will be prancing about with his hanky in hand moving his other units unmauled.
So, definitely, don't ignore the falcon, but remember, he the rest of his army too. So you have to consider occasionally letting one unit be killed by the soon to be classic harlequin/dragon drop so you can concentrate on the bigger picture.
With their current codex upgrade, the Eldar are really strong and will continue to be so until the other races 'catch up' with them.
None the less.. we are Chaos, and we have the tools and methods needed to defeat anyone.
Also.. never trust an Eldar player. They'll tell you to shoot their aspect warriors with heavy bolters with a smile on their face, yet inside, they know exactly how to render heavy bolters ineffective. Keep your cool.
