If I take an allied death guard havocs squad for my Lost and the Damned army, would they count as an elites choice and not a heavy support? The Eye of Terror codex states that any model with a mark of chaos counts as elite.

I for one would disagree with you. In a DG army those havocs are a HS-choice and could therefore not be allied in. In the ally passage it says "...may include the following units from Codex: Chaos..." no HS-option there. You could however, if you felt like bending rules and being unsportman-like, ally with BL where those Havocs already could be an elite-choice. I would however recommend you not to do it, neither fair nor nice -and we all know that's what Chaos is all about.Originally Posted by Riptor

I guess the closest thing to Havocs you can get is 9-man Chosen squad w/ 3 heavy weapons, right?
Takka n' Wakka's Dakka Attacka! 33W / 6L / 1D
Indeed. Although, you'd have to a fool to do that, because your 1 elite choice from the CSM codex should blatantly be obliterators. Who are heavy weapons enough.
I'm an Alpha Legion player - I know how good havocs are. But, i think that LaTD doesn't struggle for other heavy support. Lemon Rusks are fantastic. Basilisks are great, and i'm warming up to defilers.
LaTD should play differently to a Chaos Marine force. The marines are truly elites compared with the rabble of mutants and traitors.
Then your LaTD isn't obvious. Kudos for originality. Nothing to get het up about eh?
I wasn't really talking about you anyway, it was a general answer for Misanthrope's point.
I'm planning the same army at the moment. I'm still not certain what I'm going to do, but there are a few options you could consider.
I'll be taking a Defiler, in hopes that it can indirect fire well enough to knock the opposing armor down a notch or two. There's also the potential of a Tank Hunter squad of Plague Marines with Krak grenades (maybe?) and a couple Meltaguns. Or you could have a beefed up Lt. with a Powerfist, D.Str., and other handy tank busting toys.
I'm avoiding Traitors, but if you're not, there's always Russes or Basilisks.
The final option would be just to swarm with Mutants and/or Zombies and essentially ignore your opponent's armor as best you can. With enough CC, one should be able to do what's necessary to eek out a victory.
It'd be interesting to see your list once you decide what you'll go with. I'm debating whether or not to iron mine out and drop the money to get what I need for a mid-January local tourney, so I'll probably be posting mine soon as well.
Good luck building.
