The time has come for me to spend a great deal of money on Chaos bikes, but I'm getting some last moment doubts. So before I spend $90 plus on on the bikes, I just wanted to hear from someone with experience from playing WE, if they are really worth it. On paper a group of six bikes looks pretty tough and they seem to be able to get in combat fast and deliver some pain, plus dumping a group of bloodletters or two. What do any of you guys think that has actually tried it yourself in a real game or played against it, is it worth it or should I invest my money and the points in something more useful?
Lately I've read and heard that the bikers aren't as great as many people think and they have a hard time earning their points in. So as I mentioned earlier, I hoped all the WE players on this board could share some of their hard earned wisdom.
The link below is the army im planning on buying(painting and collecting atm), though its still going through some minor chances here and there.
well looking at the list you only have one squad of bloodletters so if you plan on useing the bikes for a demon bomb you would need at least two squads perferably three. even though the bikes are toughness 5 they still have a 3 plus save and most ap 2 and ap 3 weaponry has a pretty high strength so will be wounding you on 2's and 3's, even massed amount of fire from any weapon will eventually wound In assualt for khorne bikers use 8 and get the free champ tool out the unit and you have one hard-core assualt unit. Bikes are expensive points and money wise, so I only use 5 to get my bloodletters and bloodthirster over to the other side of the table. Hope this helps
In my experience, using bikes effectively takes a lot of practice. They aren't as broadly usable as other units. I don't daemon-bomb at all so I don't know how good they'd be for that but I imagine they'd be fairly good, but as straight-up combat units I'd have to urge caution... not only do they cost $-wise but points-wise you're able to take a squad of 8 Berzerkers + Rhino for about the same price as a squad of 5 Khorne Bikers.

Well first of all, thanks for the replys.
My thoughts was the bike squad would be a total of six, five normal bikes and the LT. So the bikes would race down one of the flanks and hopefully arrive in round two. With the number of attacks the squad would be able to deliver plus 8 bloodletters, they would hopefully cause some confusion in the enemy ranks and sell their lives for a high price. It would mean less trouble that can come my zerkers, 2x preds and DP way, but im beginning to really doubt if its a good tactic. Just because its a rather high point price I pay for the job they can do, esp since it looks so risky.
Will it be worth the points and the great risk to use any bikes in the way I'm pondering, or should I spend my $ and points on something more useful. If that is the case, what should I consider instead and with what tactic?
In my honest opinion, I'd say, if you got the cash, go for it. Bikers can be brutal under some circumstances, but also utterly useless in other circumstances. I hear they're very good against Tau (to catch up with those Crisis Suits and make a mess of them).
If you're strapped for cash and its down to a definate "either this or that, not both" then I'd probably invest in something a little more consistently efficient... but like I said if money isn't a problem, then it'd be advantageous to have a unit of bikers on your shelf, just in case.

I don't play WE myself but a friend of mine does and he uses bikes to great effect. He has about 40 berzerkers, 8 bikes (free AC) and a lord on a bike that tags along, followed by a demon bomb of a GD of Khorne and bloodletters. It's very nasty. So I say go for it. Turbo boost the bikes first turn for a 3+ invulnerable save and try to scoot behind some terrain, next turn, plow into his line. Anyway, hope I helped, cheers.
I am in the process of building a deamon bomb slaanesh bike army. Bikes make the best deamon summoning platforms avaliable to chaos. Turn one...turbo boost to the other side of the board and wallah...you have a unit of toughness 5 guys with a 3 plus inv save...it is extremely difficult to take that down. If your careful and hide them in cover then the enemy wont even have a chance of taking them down. Then the next turn your deamons arrive and your bikes play cc support. 2 sqauds of bloodletters and a squad of bikes will just about trounce anything in the game. Throw in a blood thirster and you have a massive assault head thats occupying the enemy forces whilke your large amount of berserkers make there way accross the board to deliver a second hammer blow. If utilized correctly bikes can be devestating.
