Ok simple as this. I need more heavy support and a way to get my troops across the board faster. I play black legion with khorne in it and my friend that I always play is Tau. All of my berserkers are at the moment footsloggers and it takes them forever and a few casualties to make it across the board. I thought about rhinos but with my bad luck they would either frenzy out of it or my friends rail rifle would pop it on his first turn killing all within. I already have a defiler and my two oblits are used to help my troops make it across by popping those hi power multi-firing weapons. Whatever shall I do? Ive thought about grabbing some IG tanks and making them chaosified because my friend loves conversions and we allow stuff like that all the time as long as we follow the right rules for those items. What shall I do? Please dont even suggest landraiders as all they are is a big point sink.
40,000- 7,000 Points Chaos Space Marines=18 and 17
40,000- 2,500 Points Tau Empire=1 and 2
Hello there Kingpin.
It's boring and methodical, but i'd recommend predators.
There's a reason that most WE lists have 3 triple lascannon predators in them:
Because, they reliable, effective and cheap for what you get.
If you need a good rate of fire against infantry, then my vote has to go with autocannon havocs.
Rhinos are workable too, just don't get inside them, get behind them. Free moving cover.
Maybe post up a list so we can help you further?

Railguns are a different matter because of that anus blast template, but if you spread the heavy weapon troopers out with a few regular boter-armed ones you might just keep a few alive. Just remember you can move his blast template so long as it hits the same number of models- you don't want him taking out the middle few and forcing you to move back into coherency range, wasting a turn of shooting with those that are left.
Yeah, for Khorne, the best way to get across the battlefield is by using the cover that is already on the table or by using rhinos.
I personally go for the Havocs with Tank Hunters if you're playing a Khornate Black Legion army. Otherwise, (World Eaters don't get access to Havocs) you're better off going the Lascannon Predator route mainly because of point efficiency. Of course, this leaves the problem that Tau Railguns are especially adept at popping even Predators, which leaves you in a particularly risky situation. Are you willing to take a 50/50 chance on vehicle damage if it means you can take it out in return? Make sure you give it the full kit - Mutated Hull and Daemonic Possession.
