So I finally got around to opening my raptor box and lo and behold, the champion model of the group is already equipped with a lightning claw! I really want to use a Power Sword with D. Strength on this model just to save on points, although claws look cool... but how do I go about performing surgery on this metal model?
Can I just lop the arm off and epoxy a plastic one in place? Will it look funny being a plastic/metal combination, or will it look disproportionate? Also, am I going to need a metal shoulderpad to match the raptor squad?
I'm just nervous about cutting into my first metal model because the guy looks so cool and I have no idea what I am doing.
I don't think there's any problems really visible with mixing plastic and metal as long as they're both painted over with the right colours. Proportions should be the same, as the raptors themselves are the same height as their walking brothers. Still, if you really want to use metal, I think the Death Guard champion has a metal arm with power sword.
Just be careful with the knife. Metal + Metal is not an easy cut.
