Rather than the old "OMFG Iron Warriors are cheesy!" "No, they're not. If they were, every tournament would be won by IW players." arguement, I wanted to ask what likely scenarios will be for the IW in the next Chaos Codex. I've heard lots of talk about what people think should be done, but nothing about what will probably be done.
So, what is most likely to happen to the Iron Warriors? Will they get nerfed? Do you think Obliterators will be pushed into the Heavy Support section? Will they lose the 4th Heavy Support slot option? I'm interested in starting an Iron Warriors army perhaps this summer, but I'd like to know if there's any indication what will become of them.

I don't think anythin will change for Iron warriors.
Based on the Eldar codex, on the contrary I think that the other legions will simply get better.
I especially hope that Cult legions become really quite scary.
It's really hard to tell, I don't find anything overpowered with the IW and most complaints I've seen regarding the 4 ordnance/9 oblies comes from people who don't play with enough terrain.
I tried the list myself in a 2000pts game and got slaughtered by a well balanced assault based chaos army from turn 2 onwards.
The main changes we'll see are those that apply to all chaos armies, mainly a drop in many wargear items which are overcosted compared to the more recent codices.
I do hope the cult legions will all remain seperate and not become like the eldar all rolled into 1 list, good chance GW won't as the traitor legions are a big money maker for them.
If you really want to play them then go ahead, just like the eldar codex the ones most hurt by a new codex are those who make powergamer lists, normal balanced lists won't have many problems with the new codex.
The basis for Iron warrior can still definitely be CSMs, Havocs, Predators and obliterators.
And to be honest, you can't really go wrong with these units.
If you commit yourself to only 3 oblits for the moment, then you can't get burned if they change that aspect of Iron warriors.
The rest are great units for any legion. ANY LEGION I TELL YOU! *eats potato*
All the special army list will probly not change, maybe for some little thing, but probly nothing really important. I really hope that all the cult list will get better, some more units or things like that, new figs would be great too
I really doubt much, if anything, really will change with IW. If anything, I’d like to see servo arms be cheaper and/or repair on a 4+ (like everyone else, SM, orcs, etc) and the siege specialist skill actually be useful. Right now, neither of these are a reason to play IW at all which is a shame since we give up daemons completely. The extra heavy slot won’t change (we do give up 2 FA for it, and that’s not uncommon) and the extra oblits... I doubt it. Using 9 is more a waste of points then some overpowered advantage.
The main thing I expect from the next codex is a price drop on several things (chosen, all fast attack, some wargear) as it seems chaos is one of the most expensive armies right now.
One thing that I have fielded was the basilisk it is really funny seeing a basilisk in a chaos army although not for iron warriors because they are just awesome. I would have to say they probably would have a obliterator special rule saying if taken more than three obiliterators then the rest would have to be heavy support. Iron warriors has some of the coolest fluff as does the alpha legion *hope it makes you happy papa Kar*. They are also the most heavily armed chaos legion. What drives them is paranoia.
That is all that I got.
Well that sounds okay. Personally I don't like Oblits. Not because they're over-powered or whatever, I just don't like their background and look. I've been trying to think of some way to make a counts-as Oblit based on some sort of mini-Dreadnought design or something of the sort (closest counterpart I can think of is Tau Crisis Suits, without the jump packs obviously -- anyone got any ideas? Heh) but until I can get that I don't think I'd ever use 'em.
On a slightly different topic, has anyone ever played an Armoured Company vs. Iron Warriors game? Seems like those two would be the best opponents for one another.

Talk to LN or take a look at his thread. He feels the same way about oblits as you do.
Or maybe he doesn't and my empathy gland is malfunctioning.
I would probably still stick with the obliterator legs though. They help to give a really good scale to the model.,
The one thing I like best about obliterators is their size and looming presence.
That and the Dawn of War voices,
