this debate is starting to take over the 'new codex' thread so i thought maybe it would be a better idea to give it its own space.
there has been some discussion whether or not having a chaos lord with infiltrate and a demonic speed gift (either speed or flight) is fair. under optimical circumstances it allows for a first turn assault which given the nastynes of chaos lords in CC can decimate a unit right off the bat. i use this config for almost all my games and it is realy effective
on the other hand there are ways for an opponent to counter this, hidden powerfists, powerweapon, careful depoyment can severaly decrease the potentional of the lord to be much of a threat. also, given that there are other armies who have enitre units that have the potentional to first turn assault if given the right circumstances.
what do you think? are these kind of lords abusive or just something an opponent should accept and work around.
As you mentioned it is only some effective thing, but it isn't self wining thing. Every army have some unpleasant unit or rules. If you play with your friend friendly match, you wont set this DP and he for example wont set Star Cannon league etc. If you are on tournament prepare yourself for everthing.
... try Czech language ;-)
Speed + infil relies heavily on infiltration being in effect and getting the first turn.
While it is a little on the cheap side for what it does its by no means an "I win" button.
What makes it hardcore is you usually don't stop a CL in CC and with such a stupidly high movement rate he can pick his fights.
My stance is that its a very brutal tactic and should be expected, but it can quite easily become overpowering.
I have never found my Infiltrate/Speed lord to be a gamewinner (granted I've only played like 6 games with him though). A lot of the time he actually spends chewing up a weak unit, unleashing a squad or two of Daemons and then running for his life as a Hidden Fist or a Railgun tries to track him down. He then spends the next 1 or two turns in hiding, before reappearing and taking a cheap kill, say the rear armour of a tank or a banged up unit.
Oh, and of course Escalation messes him up.
The Daemons however, they're the ones who kick the butt. :ninja:
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
Then the power of the infil speed lord need not soley be based upon his CC ability?Originally Posted by T.O.M
If he can suddenly appear in the middle of your army inside 2 tunrs and suddenly let loose his pet daemons who rend and tear and ra- I mean kill he is worth more to a chaos player than a simple point and click CC beast.
So yeah. Just another thing that was never properly clarified.
No Nid player will complain.
In fact, he'll greet you with open arms.
Two sets of open arms.
Two sets of rending.. open arms.

Either way I think it should stay as its a pretty cool ability. Plus their are a lot of things as stated before that you don't want to mess with at all or some type of tarpit units (conscripts or gaunts come to mind).
Also Caulin the way I see it on Daemonic speed is you can infiltrate in escalation. The reason I see it is it says you can move as calvary and it doesn't specificaly say you become cavalry. At least that is the way I read it which kinda makes me biaesed on the matter.

Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.
