What is the best performance of your Lord?
For me it had to be a few weeks ago when I decided to field a an expensive Lord. It was purely for fun but he saved me from a Loss lol. I came up against a Space Marine army filled with plasma guns and other anti-MEQ weapons. By turn 4 it was my Lord on his own, everything else dead(from some really bad armour saves when i had the chance to make some) with my opponant left with 3 units of 6 Marines with a 5 man Terminator Assault Squad w/ Chaplain. At the start of turn 4 my Lord blood frenzied right into one of the Marine units. He wiped it out straight away, then over ran into one of the other marine units. During the opponants turn, he moved his final marine squad and Terminator squad closer to my Lord. My lord again made short work of the squad. At the start of turn 5 my Lord failed blood frenzy but was in charge range of the marines anyway. They were soon disposed of, leaving my lord out in the open, with only the terminators left. My opponant said he thought he was further than 12" away, so he tried to move into cover but rolled double 1. Turn 6 my Lord blood frenzied 6" and as such, managed to get into combat with the Terminator unit. I decided to let my opponant roll his attacks first. He managed to wound with 8 of the attacks. I was expecting exactly what my opponant was, a sliced and diced Khorne Lord. However, my Lord didnt feel like dying and passed 6 of the 8 5+ invulnerable saves. Then, rather annoyed at the enemies feeble attempts to kill him, my Lord rolled a 5 for the extra +D3 attacks from Rage of Khorne, meaning that he had a total of 10 attacks. All successfully hit and because of the greatness of the Axe of Khorne, i was allowed an additional 3 attacks, all of which hit. After subsequent Axe of Khorne rolls, i eventually hit 15 times. Needing 2's to wound, I wounded 13 times. To add insult to injury, my opponant failed every 5+ invulnerable save.
Whoah.. sounds great.
Just my question, what did your Lord have as equipment and stuff?
Oh, yeah.. on topic. My Chaos lords are never really spectacular. My loyalist HQ once got a landspeeder down clean. Rolled triple 6. To hit, to wound and a 3rd 6 on the Glancing table.
If you see me around (especially on the Army List section) You'll probably see me advocating for basically the smallest Lord (Lieutenant) possible, and this is probably because my main opponent (main by far - he's my one of my best friends so we play a lot) is the Tau, and if I buy a big Lord he usually get Railgunned a few times before he reaches anything. For this reason I've started running small first turn charge Lieutenants (usually named Lieutenant Dan, because irony is fantastic) And this has actually worked very wel for me - against the Tau he either gtes stuck in and makes back his points quickly or he gets shot first turn and doesn't cost me too many points. A lot of the time he actually makes up the points I would have spent on a larger lord simply because there's not as much concentrated fire on him. I do believe my favourite version of this Lieutenant I played in a 2v2 1000 pt. list (with my Tau friend against my Dæmonhunter and Blood Angels friends, yes the fluff totally made sense at the time) and second turn he took out the Blood Angel's entire command squad of five, and they weren't cheap - they all had jump packs and weapons and stuff.
Hope my perspective helps
