I stumbled over the armylist of the IW-player who won the GT final. Even though it was full of obliterators and the good old bassie, i must admit i was a little surprised of the other two heavy slots, all the troops without MOU, and maybe also that the fast prince was so expensive. It shure worked though.
thought the GT in UK were 1000 points, whist that may be one of his lists, I dont think it can be the one he used at the GT
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Well strange. Its on the GW homepage for the Grand final:
If its not the list he used it must be some GW disinformation. :-)
Which of course its possible.
By the way - wasn't it 1500 point in the GT ?
im so disappointed people exploit to such an extent, all in the name of a title they dont deserve.
man i *HATE* iron warriors, simply for its exploitable nature. AAAARGH!
Chaos *not IW* for the win!
well, it is a tournament, and it is completly legal, IW is hard to beat, but i don't think he did anything wrong. Playing fair doesn't win wars
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
As far as I know, its 1500 points 40k and 2000 points Fantasy for UK GT's. I do know there was a recent tournament in Bristol i think it was where there was a paired tournment where each player had 500 points each for 40k and 750 each for fantasy.
It's weird.. because I consider chaos to be one of the fairest armies on aggregate.
Have a mango jONESIE.
You can get some really well balanced and fluffy Iron warriors lists though.

ok, admittedly, i lied in my last lost... i love Iron Warriors. i really do! they rock! ... but not on the table, because of a poorly thought, single page in the Chaos Codex titled Iron Warriors. I hate it. its just exploited. like, beyond exploited.
*EDIT: Karmoons right, there are some good fluffy lists too! ive seen IW kick things to death without resorting to the post-mentioned list*
i hate that it is the psudo-pinnicle of tournie gaming.
im sorry, but nothing annoys me more than this situation. i apologise for being so stubborn, but thats how i see it.
disco monoliths and hippy guard, insect repellant resistant 'Nids... man i love 40K. but Iron Warriors made into such lists as this just kill the spirit of the game. and i love my game
While I.W. gets nailed for its cheese factor, these kind of builds are not well rounded- a factor that tends to bit the player in the arse. I.W. often has serious issues with superior ranged armies, such as an infantry based I.G. (but who doesn't?). The same can be said about W.E., but in reverse; that is, W.E. has trouble against Nids and especially Dark Eldar.
Side: Most chaos builds that focus entirely on ranged or c.c. have serious issues, mainly due to the fact that there are a number of armies that are superior to chaos in both c.c. and range. For this reason, chaos requires a good mix of range and c.c..
As Karmoon said, chaos is regarded as one of the fairest armies. If you ask me, Alpha Legion & Black Legion are generally considered to be just as competitive as Iron Warriors, but without the smelly cheese.
