I remember reading somewhere about a group chaos marines that appeared on a battle field somewhere and then disapeared when it was over. Noone really knew what legion it was or who there were. Cant really remember much more then that. Any of this sound familure to anyone?

Sounds a bit like Legion Of the Damned.
Who are infact loyalists, despite looking far too cool to be loyalist.
From the cursed founding, the LotD appear when all seems to be lost, and then dissapear straight away.
They should move over to Chaos. Chaos has a lot to offer.
I thought they were the Lost and the damned, but i couldnt find info about them just appearing and vanashing. It must have been in the WD article then. Thanks guys
edit: yep thats them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_Of_The_Damned

But yeah, Lost and The Damned is definitely Chaos. It's the gibbering mutants and traitors which should fluff wise, represent the most of the Chaos threat.
LatD versus LotD. Very easy mistake to make.
Also try this, I think it has what you are looking for. This was taken from the Red Elf website. Scroll to the bottom to find the Fire Hawks. Enjoy bud.
