Welcome to Librarium Online!
what should i buy to start with. i already have a codex. i'm thinking about doing a 500pt khrone army to start with. any suggestions?
A cheap LT as your hq is a good start. The configs for them are many and varied. Look around at other lists to see what you want to do with him.
I would reccomend starting out with a Khorne heavy Black Legion, instead of going straight to World Eaters right off the bat. That said, an 8 strong berzerker unit is right about 200 points, depending on upgrades. 2 of them would give you plenty of room for your HQ.
An inflitrating 6-8 man CSM squad with the appropriate upgrades would also be a good start for one of your troop choices.
Another squad will almost always benefit you more than a few upgrades to all squads. Remember: Troops before Toys.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Chaos!
I was always a fan of the Independent Character models Games Workshop makes, so yeah if you want I would go for a Headquarters model like a Lord or a Lieutenant, but browse through some army lists in their section before you decide which model to buy/how to convert him.
If you would rather start your army off with a bang, and you're compeltely certain you'll want to play Khorne (they can be frustrating if your enemy knows how to tool your "must charge the closest unit" rule) the Berzerker box is an excellent deal, but really I'm with sephirth, you should probably start Black Legion first and buy a box of the regular Chaos Space Marines, and again be careful before you assemble them, as a somewhat veteran (not nearly as veteran as some of the people on this site, I mean wow) who assembled his marines when he was about eight years old, which outfit you give your troops ends up mattering a lot mroe than it seems to (i.e. Bolters vs. Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons). I'm way short on the Bolt Pistol/Close Combat models. Whoops.
Also, as a side note I started with World Eaters/Khorne Berzerkers and have ever since been stuck to the more close combat side of Chaos, although now I lean more in the Alpha Legion direction. They're a lot of fun once you figure out what to do

Back from the dead to haunt new houses.
Send me a hello if you remember me.
If you start a new army and want to play a pure khorne army, then you'll need at least 2 boxes of berzerkers and a lieutenant. This will bring you to nearly 750 points. Next thing you buy is a predator in order to deal with ennemy tanks.
Here's is a short tactica that might help you : http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=82986 (World Eater (My vision of))

welcome aboard to Chaos. Just like to give you some important advice.
You've got the codex. This is good.
Now read the codex. And once you've read the codex, read it again. After that, read it again.
Only then.. can you read the codex once more..
you get the idea. The current chaos codex is a bitch (am i allowed to say that?), so make sure you get your head around it properly
Thing like.. i dunno.. you're not allowed to take feel no pain unless you have access to the armoury .
P.s. (you need more power fists)

Yes. A lot easier, this way you can use everything chaos has to offer and when you get the hand of playing the game you can then choose which legion you like the most and suits your style of play the best.
