so basically im starting a thousand sons army, only 1000 pts to begin with
it will be containing 2X9 squads of Rubric marines
5 Rubric termies
and a lord in a terminator armour.
basically this is what i wanna do, not sure how to use it though. i was thinking giving my asp champs (marines) bolt of change and a familiar or two. and some powerweapons or powerfists.
the rubric terminator squad should contain a champ with either wind of chaos or bolt of change?...
my lord will be a psychic monster who is able to handle himself in melee to.
anyway do you guys have any idea how i should use this list or is it just BS?..
There is nothing on that post that is illegal.
For your AC, skip the familiar, you only need one psychic power: Bolt of Change. Powerfists are almost mandatory.
The Termie idea is fine, i'd go with the wind. Termies are generally CC, especially Rubric.
As for the lord, look in the thread about lord combinations, that has everything you need.
Take note that I have only played one game as TS, and am not a master in anyway. It is suggested you take Dreadnoughts I believe, they go really well together.
One more thing, write up a list and have the helpful people here at LO to critique it.
I say keep the familiars, though I think you meant Thralls
BoC is a great spell at range, but if you also give the champ Gift of Chaos you've bought yourself some serious close combat edge.
Thralls are a must, especially with no Flamers around. What's better then a lascan equivalent? Two.
I'm going to actually reccomend you buy Predators instead of dreadnoughts, a lot more survivable, and can provide more firepower. I run a dreddy with my Sons, but rarely does it ever see combat. In fact, I think like, twice total, out of prolly close to 30 games with him in it. But I'm stubborn, and I like dreadnoughts a lot, I think they're awesome. Just wish they had more living-ness.

I agree with hotspike. Especially until you get a handle one the way rubrics work, I would consider the pred, they are very efficient (but like hotspike, I use dreads).
I suggest saving the termies for 1500 points. Its hard getting them into action without deepstrike, and with deepstrike your other squads may be overwhelmed.
If you keep the termies, I would give the champ bolt of change. Its very dangerous to deepstrike close enough to use wind as much as you could use bolt of change. Also, if there is a lone character that is taking advantage of his independant character status, you can always deepstrike so he is closest to the termies and then bolt him to death...or get behind that damned leman russ...

alright many thanks guys. since we play alot of cityfighting i think im gonna go with the dreads.
i like the idea of the rubric termies, since they in my openion seem like the only terminators that you can actually use with good effect..
another thing that struck me, can i give them inferno bolts?
the entry is somewhat cryptic.
Inferno Bolts are bought from the armoury so they are for Characters only and they are far from the best you get access to for your Champs/ICs.
If you are making a CityFight army I would really like to recommend to get your Sorcerors a familiar and Wind of Chaos. It's a fantastic flamertemplate weapon that ignores coversaves and armoursaves.
Once again, when combined with thralls...lovely
Screamers are also very good in Cityfights, the hit and run rule is far more usable when there is scenery to hide behind after the break-off.
but chosen get the sorcerer ability? and therefore access to the armoury? so why shouldnt i be able to buy inferno bolts?..
hmm yeah is was thinking about using the wind of chaos thingy..
anyway screamers i don't get them.. i suppose i can snipe IG command squads with them
Yup and nope.
Chosen are sorcerers so they get access to the Psychic Wargear but Inferno Bolts are considered Gifts of the Gods and only available to Characters with access to the full armoury.
And I also think you get the Chosen Terminators mixed up with the Rubric Terminators, the Rubrics do not have access to the armoury (only the Champion has) and they cannot upgrade their weaponry in any way, they are bound to have only CombiBolters and Power Weapons- nothing else.
If you want fancy stuff you'd have to field Chosen Terminators that will become far more expensive and fragile.
Screamers can do a lot in a city fight. How about attacking the rear armour of Bassies?
And How about 18 high strength and initiative attacks, it's bad news for quite a few units and characters.
Your Sons won't be getting a clean shot on them (Bassies, Battlesuits etc) for ages, to Deepstrike the Termies can be rather dangerous and Deepstriking is always a risky thing due to the scatter.

hmm well it played my first couple of games, (proxy)
and it's going alright, lost against slaneesh but won against eldar.
i used.. 2x9 squads of rubrics,asp champs with powerweapons 2 thralls each and bolt of change,
a rather expensive dreadie.with.. missile launcher and lascannon. mutated hull and other stuff
and a chosen of Ahriman in termie armour, bolt of change, powerweapon, the works.. 3 thralls and a familiar yadda yadda, my friend told me it was okay i used him. since he fears a lord more.
this was under 1000 pts.
it all worked out pretty well, well sort of, im gonna try those winds of chaos on for size with my rubrics.. and add some screamers. so now the conversion of my lord and dreadie can commence... Hussah! thanks for the help peeps especially Andusciassus.
