So i personally like this setup for a thousand son aspiring champion
Bolt of Change
Wind of Chaos
Master-Crafted Power Fist
6 Minor Tzeentch Pyschic Power
All this for the low low cost of 244 points.
Don't post statlines, please. ~Cal
Having 5 types of ranged attacks makes this squad leaders one of the most verstile in the game. I dare say he could killk any other squad leaders in a 1v1 fight. Khorne only wishes he could have these expensive servants.:ninja:

"Drop emergency bulkheads! Activate compression rams! Set internal bracing! Issue brace for impact alert! I repeat, brace for impact!"
Wow, thats super overkill to the max. 5 ranged attacks is neat I guess, but give me Bolt of Change and some thralls.
For most of my champs:
Bolt of Change
...at 145 points less
sometimes for a squad or two I'll throw in a familiar and wind of change.
The truth is that in a 1v1 fight, most squad leaders will kill each other. The trick is to make them kill normal troops at the lowest price. While you champ may have some more versitility, it is out of context. You will have plenty of bolters behind him, not to mention wounds, so bionics will rarely be used and the only ranged weaponry you really need will be bolt of change or wind of change, and always ALWAYS thralls. 5 weapons is cool I guess, but remember that every turn you are wasting 4 of those ranged attacks.
I agree, it may be cool to have 5 different types of ranged attacks but what for? The combi-melta is wasted due to the slow nature of TS they are unlikely to ever catch armor. The standard is just plain overkill due to all of the bolter shots that the squad is already going to get due to S&P. Mastercrafting a powerfist is something I would never do, especially for an AC and bionics are just worthless given how many two wound models will have to be removed before they even have the chance of being effective.
You could buy like 5 more rubrics for the cost of the upgrades that you can cut from that guy.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
You are wasting point every turn. It's fun, but he'll never ever make his points back.
Plus some smug fairy will just mind war you or a vindicare will shoot you chuckling from a tree.
That aside.. where's mutation? It's superior to mastercrafted/spikey bits.
Also.. both the blasted standard and bolt of change come from the tzeentch armoury. A champ is maxed out at 50, meaning that one of them will have to go.
So.. big, fat and illegal I'm afraid.

i guess thats why he doesnt really stand out.
I'm not sure he does actually. Expensiveness is not the kind of thing anyone (with a few exceptions, like newly rich people... think lottery-millionares) really holds as a "good" quality.Khorne only wishes he could have these expensive servants.
It is a bit different in a Thousand Sons army compared to most others though, that the champ might/should cost quite a bit, but this is IMHO far over the top.
Ironangel suggested another five Rubrics, I suggest a faily impressive extra Lt.
The thing is not to try to make the champs omnipotent, but to carefully consider what situations they might end up in and equip them properly to the task(s). Things not used at the end of the game are points wasted.
