Any good idea's to kill nightbringers. My army is pure fast close combat and i have destroyed everyone i played until i fought an army with a nightbringer. had a bit of bad luck but couldn't bring it down. killed my lord in one turn and he only caused two wounds with dreadaxe. then killed my 10xdaemonettes in the next two turns. my space marine friend uses snipers but we don't have em and havoc's with lascannon's or m/launcher's are too expensive and don't fit my close combat army.
Do you have an uber daemon prince?
I could see one of those, supported by some other guys, take this guy out. Maybe if you got the charge.
Turtles For the Turtle God!
Shells For the Shell Throne!
Daemon prince has Mark of Nurgle, D. Stature, D. Strength, D. Flight, D. Aura, Dread Axe, D. Essence, Frag Grenades, Spiky bits. With only six strength i need six's to wound. Only get five attacks on charge. Not much chance of hurtin him. Five attacks - half hit = 2.5 then need six's. His counter attack with ten strength means one hit auto kill. Because my lord is statured it didn't matter that the daemonettes attack at the same time. he can be singled out. 180 odd points in one round. then he waded through my daemonettes.
You haven't read the rules for the dreadaxe fully right?
There's another ability it gives you, you need 4+ to wound at max.
To be blunt- there isn't too much you can do. The Nightie is slow, easily kited.
Your best bet would be:
Double-teaming. Take a Character with Powerfist, and unit Champ with Powerfist. He will have to attack either the unit, or the character, in HTH... Problem is, you won't be charging- because the Nightie will sweep you away before blows are struck. Then you will be a sitting duck for the next shooting phase. So, your next bet would be...
Bloodletters. They don't have a strength upgrade like Possessed or Obliterators- so if you charge with 'Letters, you will be attacking (can't be swept away). They can hurt him, and are fearless- yet, you'd probably lose combat, and Daemonic Instability will do even more damage. Alot of points to throw into the maw of Mr Nightie too
Weapon Spam- over Str 4 weapons. Not the best chance to hurt him, but remember, his Invulnerable isn't very good. Great, he can shrug oof Krak Missles, but Heavy Bolters, Blastmasters, rapid fire Plasma.... anything to throw lots of dice that can actually hurt him is a good thing- Mr Nightbringer can only save 50% of the wounds caused. So, really, you are hunting for 6's, and trying to force many saves. After he takes a few wounds, he will be reluctant to throw himself into your army.
Heavy Bolters, Plasma rapidfire and Autocannons are great for this, with Blastmasters following.
That being said, you could always get 10x Kroot Mercenary Hunter Kindred.... they have sniper rifles, for a cool 101 points, or something. They have cool special rules, and can Infiltrate- check out the Kroot part of the forum, see the sticky Kroot Index for a link to the PDF.
Last, but not least, is your own Lord HTH Monster, that will strike before the Nightie (you mentioned Dreadaxe). Go with Stature, Daemonic Speed helps too- to make sure he can't sweep you away when you charge him.
Overall, you need to do some damage before he gets to you- or, you sacrifice a unit in HTH to do the starter damage, then shoot it down when it is in the open. You will never find a single quick way to stop the Nightbringer, due to his awesome Toughness Value (unless you have a super lucky 'Gift if Chaos'roll, or Abaddon pokes him to death).
High dice output shooting like Heavy Bolters and Autocannons, or Plasma Guns/ Snipers, are the way to go- followed by an assault with a higher-than-average Strength unit to catch the slow Nightbringer off-foot, and roll those 6's!!!! The stray Lascannon doesn't hurt either, but better off to save those shots to auto-kill WBB Necron models
Nonetheless, good luck Chief, hope you have success! Go get 'im
I am seriously swabbing you on that.
Mixing ICs in with squads is a great idea. It gives me lots of ideas and potential.
I'm a bit confused.. surely daemonettes are ideal against the night bringer?
10 daemonettes should get enough rending to put down the night bringer surely?
The dreadaxe is probably the best weapon against him though - Dreacon's already pointed out that you're missing a vital rule about it.

I personally would focus on taking out his basic Necron units so he phases out.
I'm with P-Tail and Rob here. Why bother killing it, when you can try to maneuver around it? A Nightbringer is a LOT of points that aren't invested in preventing phase-out, so that's the armies weak point.
