Pick out of all the chapters, which one you think is the coolest, and why if nobody minds.Dark Angels have always appealed to me because of the robes and fluff, not to mention the combat squad thing is cool.
Iron hands, hands down (no pun intended)
cause they cut of initiatives left hands and replace em with bionic ones (must be a pain in the butt to convert all those hands) and the vet seargents have termie armour (hurray for anti-rhino!) and led by an iron father (techmarine) with dark colours, what's not to love?
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
I'd have to go with Blood Angels or Crimson Fists
I'd have to go with either Crimson Fists or Raven Guard.
I like the Crimson Fists because of the near annihilation of their chapter and how its represented on every crimson fist.
However I am also torn because I like the Raven Guard as well; the constantly having to cope with Corax's desperate attempts in rebuilding his chapter haunting every RG ten millenia later is simply awesome. Plus its like being blood angels without the red armour or death company.
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

White scars, all the way. All of those bikes tearing across the battlefield, it is an awesome sight. (Not to mention the scared look in your opponents eyes when he looks at your 20 bikes being used as 4 troops choices.)
Personally, I love my Black Templar. . .
The greatest warriors in the imperium embarking upon Holy Crusades for the Immortal Emperor. The idea of Large squads of Marines who fight together based on comraderie, rather than blatent rank. And the personal level of training that the frontline warriors give to the rising recruits. Its just cool.
The Black Templar normally activly seek out enemies, as opposed to defending territory or responding to a distress call, or threat. (though they still help out in defence when the occasion calls for it)
I just love the idea of the Crusades. . .
Plus we get the Holy Orb Of Antioch. . .lol
"Why me?" Gideon begged, falling to his knees.
He looked pleadingly at the Haemonculi who regarded him with a twisted smile. As the door slammed shut, Gideon could hear Vect's laughter echoing off the walls of the corridor beyond, the Dark Lord's voice carried into the torture chamber:
Ravenguard for me since they represented the quick stealth assaults that I have grown fond of in warfare.
But the all-time coolest chapter for me is the Salamanders and their fluff. They got the Promethean cult, they got the awesome craftmanship fo weaponry, and they have a thing for fire. I like fire.

Space Wolves ftw!
They're cunning and powerful. Blood claws are overlooked even when there's 2 or 3 power fists in the squad.
The necessity to take more HQ's than what's allotted in the organization chart (every 750 points).
Probably have the most (assumed from the way of the space wolves) battles under their belt. This is because they like to fight and will do what they are told not to do. IE: "The best way to get a Space Wolf to do something is to tell him not to do it."
Greater Ld than normal marines.
Their home world is black and white: either hot or cold. Not to mention that they have to survive constant sea monster attacks.
They (imho) have the most respect for their battle brothers. I say this because they work best in a pack, just like real wolves (duh!)

They are too 'determined' to realize that there are easier places to base their chapter than a volcanic planet in a constant state of gravitational flux.
Their most notable battles (that I know of) always seem to involve their whole chapter either getting nearly wiped out or relicted to guard duty while GW's big earners (*cough *Bloodangels *cough *Blacktemplar) get to fight all the major battles and thus get all the credit.
They aren't choked down with any ridiculous flaw/doctrines/fluff that makes them pretend to be vampires/ werewolves/ combat-zealots-that run-faster-towards-the-enemy-when-they-get-shot/ secretly-hunting-the-tainted-half-of-their-chapter (which btw, depending on which GW novels/articles you follow are actually the good ones).
On the bright side, they get to play with fire! Also, they are undeniably good looking in their green & black motif. As mentioned, they have a high level of technical expertise, so they have better access to items such as terminator armor. The limited fluff that is available for them is fairly consistent, shows them in a good light, and shows them not to be overly-condescending elitists when dealing with non-astartes (except that one short story in the compilation Let the Galaxy Burn, but it had numerous innaccuracies).
Games Workshop is the Wal-Mart of hobby products, except for the low prices. The lack of respect and profit mongering is there in spades.
