I was wondering how useful the light infantry doctrine is?
And if you do use it, how is it best used?
Thanks in advance.
Hello here from BDThrall.
I believe I might have the answer to your question involving the Light Infantry doctorine.
This is one of the most popular and respectable doctorines ever designed for guard, as it allows you a wide range to locate your units and hit the enemy as hard as possible. Combine with a number of other doctrines this can be the anchor to the army that makes them a fierce force on the tabletop. But because of it's popularity, a number of players are warry and will prep for it if you aren't careful. Also due to the fact you do have the standard armor, a good number of weapons will hit your units worse than a stronger army.
Also this choice of a doctorine allows you to be able to force your opponent into areas that you want him to go if you're creative enough.
I'll be damned before the soldiers of the Emperor are just left to rot!
Last words of Colonel Densit from the Rahaxin 19th
"DISS NOT THE EMPEROR'S POINTED STICK, HERETIC!"
If it doesn't work with the Emperor. Then it's been officially Karmooned!!!
BEWARE THE POWER OF THE LIGHT-BRIGHT!
yea, its nice. um, good for cities of death, where lots of terrain rolls are happening. good for defence, 'cause you can infiltrate your men in. not so sure about the whole "sniper for a heavy weapon thing," id much rather take the heavy.
Anyway, Light Infantry is a brilliant doctrine, even if you only use it selectively. I like to put it on squads carrying Lascannons, this makes sure they can sit themselves in prime locations to hit heavy targets like Flyrants and Daemon Princes.
At anyrate, don't be afraid to infiltrate into your own Deployment Zone, I do this frequently. If you do go down the "all infiltrating route" make sure you always have some units not Infiltrating as you need to picket your deployment zone to prevent the enemy from crushing you into a corner.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
i think Shaabhekh is wondering why they cant make a sniper rifle a special weapon(probably weighs less than a plasma gun) because personally if a sniper was a heavy 1 special weapon i would take it with missile launchers to make anti(big thing) like those special large units(avatar, carnifex, squiggoth, super nasty killing unit)
