Have you ever seen black hawk down?
have your hq and 1 infantry platoon(minimum size) deepstrike and 3x hardened veteran squads mounted in Valkyrie airborne assault carriers(=blackhawk's) and 3x grenadiers mounted in chimera's(like armored fist with good amor) and 2x inquisitorial stormtrooper squads(Rhino or Chimera depends on points but movie had similar to Rhino) and 2x leman russ(maybe demolisher) and a Vulture(like a Little Bird gunship) and some sentinels converted like gun jeeps(http://z15.*****************/Greydea...hp?showtopic=5 that equal HMVEE's or humvees) and maybe a hellhound if you can fit it.
Think about the look on your opponents face:cry: on turn 2 when he gets hit by deepstriking command squad and 25 men and 3x hardened veterans while being strafed by 3x transport flyers and a gunship(vulture) while the armored collumn is about to show up(take lots of improved comms for planes and deepstrike) would this be a fun army if not a
Competitive army to play(if anyone would be stupid enough to let you use 4x flyers..........but i know a lot of people who feel there should be flyers in 40k anyway so then let me use them:yes just thinking what do you think of this idea and what would you do to counter this in CityFight if i ever had enought money(currently have 2x chimera the vulture, 1x valkyrie and 3x leman russ(different varients 1 exterminator-lots of dakka 1executioner-plasma fun and 1 regular-ordinance bad on move) and only 1 storm trooper squad and around 130 guardsmen) but it would be an army to save up for(lots of money) but be lots of fun to even field!
Man that sounds cool. Seems to me thats the only reason you need!
I would use regular guardsmen in the Chimeras and I don't know if I would use the Sentinals. The Demolisher is a must. Go for it!
This would be a nice army, but the principle has been around a while. The majority of competitive Guard lists are drop troops. Most people don't touch Vultures or Valkyries as they are not codex and are fairly over-pointed when they are not needed to deep strike anyway (sometimes people will mound Grenadier squads in them, but apart from that they are rare), but everybody has thier own take on the same idea.
Drop troops can be an effective and rewarding army that takes the initiative from the enemy (something a Guard army is generally not great at doing). I would check out the army lists section to see how other people have build theirs.
As a side note, their may very well be official rules for flyers (specifically Valkyries) in Apocalypse, this is an unconfirmed rumour, but they seem to be hinting that there will be.
honestly if they make valkyries a legal unit in apocalypse prepare for aeronautical imperialis 40k scale airborne cavalry force! so i will have to spend another($200 or so-i planned on anyway) to buy another valkyrie and i will make a mold(another $100 or so to make 6+(dont know how many) valkyries) lol
