Today at my local Games Workshop I had the most strange and hilarious game of my life. I was playing a 2000 point game with my space wolves against eldar. It was strange from the outset, first of all the guy who set up our terrain did it terribly. I had no terrain in my deployment zone and he had two bunkers in his! This was very, very bad considering i was playing mech wolves and had absolutely nothing to hide my vehicles behind. Considering he had six bright lances it did not look good. Then, I made a series of silly and obvious mistakes that resulted in my unit of bloodclaws with wolf lord bieng charged by nine banshees and Jain Zar ( soor about the spelling). As you can see, that should never happen, and all 9 bloodclaws were wiped out. My Wolf Lord then procceded to flee a mere 2 inches, and the banshees consolidated into the Lord. Then, next turn he was in base contact with Jain Zar and ferociously cut her down. Then, his 9 man banshee squad failed there morale check!!! I then rolled a 6 for my initiative check as he rolled a 4!!!!!! Finally, in turn 5 the Lord charged the Avengers and proceeded to wipe them out to!!!!!! So, in total the Lord slew 19 Eldar and a Pheonix Lord!!! Thats something Russ would be proud of. Then to top it all off my scouts didn't come in untill turn six and my opponents Eldrad suffered three perils of the warp. I tell you again, I have never once played a game so strange! All in all though, i did pull off a victory.
When a model in my army pulls a performance like that out of the bag I often reward him with a conversion. I would greenstuff a badge, icon, medal or something similar on to him to commemorate the occasion!
Hence I don't use Banshees in my Eldar list. The amount times a Chaplan has mown down my Banshee squad is ludicrious. I seriously wasn't at all surpised reading this. Marine Characters are the bane of all Eldar players.
If you call it a Missile launcher, then it'll never hit anything.
100% of people who aren't Karmoon know Saraneth is invincible.
Unless you play Mephiston against Eldrad, and he takes a wound from his own plasma pistol and then gets Mind War'd into squidgy goo.
But yes. That is a historic battle, worthy of a nice little Boy Scout purity seal or something. And a title. Maybe call him "Bjork the Phoenix-Killer" or "Hrothgar, Silencer of Banshees!"

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
sounds great - that must be the reason I have the complete opposite luck and my wolf lord dying and his group of troops assaulting, not wounding and then losing combat, failing morale checks and running away off the board the next turn or getting pinned on turn one and having a bunch of eldar kites fly circles around me and blow me to smithereens.
Just out of curiousity - what does a mech wolves list look like?
fierce and quick moving
