This is a real quick question. Generally, if i played a 2000 point game against most (meaning overall) armies, would 30 GKs and 5 Termies from HQ be enough to take care of all the infantry? Im trying to see if thats all i need to spend on assaulting units so i can spend the rest of my points towards tank busting stuff like dreads or landraiders. Could you please help me out?
I use three fast attack squads of 10 GKs w/ justicar having meltabombs, but also two will have incinerators. So 900 points for all three slots.
That seems like plenty, although I don't have a 2,000 point army myself ... I use 10 GKs with 5 Termies in 1,000 points, and 15 GKs with 5 Termies in 1,500, and that is enough even against Orks ('Nids are always a problem for me but tooling your army to face 'Nids will make it weak against most others).
On a side note, you might want to take one or two GK squads as troops and give them psycannons. The psycannon is an excellent weapon and well worth the cost, and being able to shoot from Turn 1 is an advantage. Of course deep striking is nice, but plenty can go wrong with it too. Aside from the dangers of landing on the enemy or getting "lost in the Warp", a mobile enemy like Eldar will be able to re-deploy away from your GKs before they can assault and leave them useless. Using all your GKs as Teleport Attacks seems like "putting all your eggs in one basket", so to speak.
