I have read several times That a regiment are round 2000 men but how big should a company be?
and what diffrent companys should a regiment contain? it differs ofcourse from Mecenized and Infantry Regiments
Well a quick look at pages 10 and 11 in the codex should give you a quick guesstimate on the numbers. Apparently the Cadian 8th is about 8000 men strong with 24 companies of roughly 2-6 platoons. However according to page 4 regiments are typically 1000 men, and according to Warmaster Demetrius on the back cover 10,000 men. I'd say that regiment size tends to vary a lot and anything between the two extremes would work (I'm personally fond of 2000-4000 men; who wants to go write in depth fluff about a 10,000 man regiment, and 1000 screams Marines at me.) Company strength should work fine though.
And yes, I know the math doesn't entirely work out for the Cadian 8th.

I came, I saw, I got a different type of Leman Russ.

Rules for grenades are on page 72 of the rulebook.
The size of a regiment varies from their planet of origin, a cadian regiment isn't neccessarily the same size as a Valhallan or Vostroyan one. Casulties play their part too of course, suffice to say, the size can vary alot and that there's no real fixed number given anywhere.
The way i imagined my own army, a full company is a 4000 points army , between 150 and 200 men, including Command + support squads, 2 infantry platoons, 1 mechanized platoon (4 chimera, 2 iron fist, 2 veterans), 1 armored platoon (4 leman russ), 1 sentinel platoon (4 sentinel)
The company can receive attachments from RGT command: basilisk artillery, rough riders, storm troopers, siege tanks.
This is a line company, but the regiment has also 2 drop companies, 1 jungle fighters company and 1 tyranid hunters company, with different organization and doctrines.
To bring in the real world for a bit (though this depends on the country) here's an idea of how the US Army breaks it down (so you can get an idea for your own army of relative numbers):
A Company: is comrpised of (usually) 4 platoons. In total that is around 120-200 men.
A Battalion is comprised of appx. 3 companies. Around 400-600 men
A Regiment (which the US no longer uses) had around 3-4 battalions. So say 3. That's around 1200-2000 men.
The way I did my IG army, my regiment has 3 Companies: A Mech Infantry company, a pure Drop Troops company (with Schaeffer included), and a hybrid Drop Company. In real life I have enough men for a battalion, but I just wrote the fluff to say they are the elite of the elite and thus they have fewer men in their regiment.

As a side question...
an armoured company?
an armoured regiment?
what do you reckon the numbers would be like on those?
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.
Armoured company: what I have seen from the upcoming Apokalypse an imperial tank company comprises 3 squadrons with 3 tanks each plus a command tank; so company strength is 10 tanks, with each squadron comprised of either Leman Russ or Demolisher.
My guess for an Armoured Regiment would be 3 to 4 companies of tanks.
Works as well for artillery 8X
Thanks for all the info guys
