I've been reading lots of posts and picked up some anti-Land Raider feelings from lots of players mostly because of the expensive point cost :o . Well I've always thought it's been a cool model and when I run out of things to paint  I'll probably end up painting one.

So when do YOU use a Land Raider? And how do YOU find it most effectice?

Or Why do YOU not use a Land Raider?

I too only use the Crusader. Usually not until after 1500 - 2000 army sizes. I have a regular LR but I never use it. I think it's too much a jack of all trades, master of none. At least the Crusader has good transport capability.

I will use my Land raider for the first time when i play against my friends Khorn army, It will be a 1500 points game. Since his Khorn guys lack some heavy firepower i think the tank will do good.

once i get my army built, ill use my landraider whenever i get the chance, that way i can have a delivery of nice and spiky internals while also having lascannons, which means i dont need to get devs or spend more points on other units...besides, it looks so cool!

well, being as I play Black Templars, a crusader or 2 is neccesary from 2000-3000pts, considering 3000pts, I would have 2. but still, it depends on your style of play, if you like taking a small army with solid firepower, then get a land raider, but if you like to bolter the enemy to death, have 60 tactical marines...

I always use my crusader against horde type armies with poor saves in battles 1500+, put some assault termies in and charge, alternatively I can sit and wait for them to come to me and blast them when they close enough. Im also considering getting the standard land raider as a anti tank for use against SM, CSM and necrons I'll also use that in battles of 1500. 2 of 3 my regular marine opponents have a crusader and I have one, whenever we have a 4 way marine battle, there always 3 land raiders on the table, although mine is rather useless against SM, but once i destroyed a LR with the multi melta on mine, took a while to get in range

Bingo, thats just what i do in my bigger games.

Its great when you pull out three landraiders (1 standard 2 crusaders) stocked to the gills with termis with thunderhammers and lightning claws.

Hell thats the only reason i play the game.

But all three are only for bigger games.
