In aa couple of hours I have my first game against the might Tau Empire
I'm a SM player, and new to the game.
It will be a 1000 p game. What willl I see at the other side of the table. And more important what is very dangerous
you will see at least 1 battle suit and 1 unit of firewarriors :party2: because well they are required... hope that helps!
" i once attempted to help an inquisitor who had stumbled over a cliff, but i couldn't help thinking no good was going to come of him yelling DIE HERITIC!!!"
i play chaos, but I have a friend that plays tau. You will probably see a couple of units of fire warriors and some battlesuits. The fire warriors have high strength weapons that can take out your troops quick so try not to give him lanes to fire.
The battlesuits are also a strong and manuevorable squad that can make short works of marines in a couple of turns. You should take fast moving troops like assault marines. Watch out for the fish of fury too, it can be devestating so make sure you take some stuff to take out devilfishs/warfishes. Try to learn what your friend has so you can gain the upper hand:party2:.
well the result was ---> he killed me ...alot
It was a crushing victory for him.
His side of the field:
2 x 10 krootsquads
1 x 10 FW
1 x broadside
1 x some sort of elit suite
1 x some sort of HQ suite
1 x hammerhead
1 x piranna
1 x stealth suites
1 x Chaplain
2 x 10 SM
1 x 5 assault marines
1 x 3 bike squad
1 x 6 dev squad (with ML)
1 x rhino
Is there something i should have done different besides trying to get in assault range

Several easy ways to kill tau.
Drop pods FTW.
Particularly tactical marines with flamers.
Assault marines in numbers
And the wonder that is the whirlwind=)
Avoid vehicles behids troop transports, and avoid highpoint models.
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
It all depends on the Tau player's list. There is very rarely ever a unit that is overall good at fighting Tau, because the ways to play Tau are polar opposites. You could have a Mech list, a Static list, and, of course, the hybrid list which incorporates units from both sides of the 'spectrum.'
Also, this belongs more appropriately in the Space Marines forum, so I'll go ahead and move this thread there for you.
