ok, after a battle i had with chaos I need to know this. How do we deal with blood letters. I know when the new codex comes out it will be a million times easier, but I really wan't to know how to kill them now.
In a battle I had, me and doomygirdoom where fighting chaos undivided, and Khorn. doomygirdoom had ultramarines and grey knights. I had 60+ battle sisters in close order drill. No terrain squeeze, and a nice wide open feild for chaos to aproach us through. By turn 3 we had annihilated Khorn (accept one squad of terminators), and killed all but 3 squads of the chaos undivided army we where facing. On turn 4, the bloodletters came into play. One squad of them started pretty far back, but the other squad of bloodletters was summoned right infront of my girls. Once they got into close combat my front line simply melted away in a horrible gorry mess.
All was not lost, I rationalized. I stayed calm, and confidant. I still saw an easy victory, as I moved my saraphim into position for the counter charge. I had avoided using them until this moment. I figured I would use them carefully, and wouldn't throw them away, and waste my points on a doomed assault. Every one not in assault murdered the blood letters, and recycled deamons who were on their way (we had destroyed all deamon assaults previous to these bloodletters and they had marched back from their deployment zone).
Assault came, I had used the passion, I was going to tear those bloodletters apart. Then I was sadly mistaken. I lost half of my saraphim (I started with 15) and didn't kill a single bloodletter. Now maybe this was bad luck, since the bloodletters are as easy to kill as space marines in close combat right? This will be totally different when the codex comes out, and saraphim can use an act of faith to get +2 str (thus they will actually be able to kill some of the bloodletters and force an instability test). Does any one else handle bloodletters differently?
First idea (Shooting) works with both lists, SOB and WH: Retributor squad with four heavy bolters and divine guidance.
Second (Hand to Hand): SOB: Seraphims with THE Passion and Divine Guidance in the assault phase. WH: well Spirit of the Martyr is a must and yes.... Divine Guidance.
I suppose this thread should be locked, or destroyed some how. In the Strategy & tactics forum I have reposted this question.
by the way, the shooting Idea was used, our aponents army never made it closer than 18" until the deamons were summoned (who scattered over 6" towards us, then moved 6", then assaulted 6". too bad we cant shoot further than 14"). We were destroying them until that point, and even after the bloodletters routed us, there were plenty of squads above half strength to contest all but one table corner. The acts of faith were also used by my counter assaulting saraphim. It doesn't matter how many attacks you get, even if they count as power weapons, if you can hardly wound. Then they take their invulnterable saves. I know you were trying to help though, so thanks any ways.
I think then i only have one word for you... EXORCIST...
I think then you should check out the other forum were this is all discussed
that was fun, and also incredibly scary-at least they all killed each other-which i thought was kind of funny. too bad the GK didnt take care of the bloodletter like the teleport squad did with the screamers (BOOM-teleport-promethium wash-no more screamers)
