Okay, so with Apocolypse just around the corner, and seeing all the fun new toys coming out, that little voice in the back of my head just became insainly loud, saying to put the eldar down, (enough though i just started them as of the new codex release.. ) And go for Guard. If anything id want to do a mechanaized list, However normal scale of the games i tend to get are between 1000-1500 points.. Does this point limit effect the usefulness of a Mechanized force.. It seems that it would get expsensive quickly for just a single troop choice.. What are your thoughts on this?
Oh.. but i dont look so good with all those.. tentaclly things..
If you go mech, go grenadiers mech, you can get a full squad of grenadiers w/ 2 plama guns or melta and a decked chimera for a reasonable cost, especially for thier mobility and potential damage.
You shouldn't be hindered at the point range you intend to play at, especially if you are used to playing eldar, its still going to be a matter of carefully planing out your attack, and using your units to complement each other to accomplish your goal.
Good luck, and welcome to the guard.
Battlesuits, putting the BS in BullS*%t.
Definately agree with Steel Legionaire, if you're going mech go with Grenadiers aswell - you can get good little tactical troop choices for about 75 pts, then add on transport - not too bad at all.
Obviously being on here I'm totally biased, but having played a few armies, none are as rewarding as the Imperial Guard... leave the Eldar coneheads at home, start a guard army!
