Ive decided once i paint up my night lords ( 8 hrs a model ^^) to 1500 i might start the blood angels, as i have just read the horus heresy books and i loved em (Go sanguinius!)
As such i would like to start a Blood Angels army, i would like some assault marines, a chaplain (preferably Lemartes for the 3 wounds) and death company. Any recommendations for maybe a 750 point army to start with? (for the denser people out there im asking what should i buy ^^)
Thanks in advance
For a starter army with BA I would buy:
5-10 deathcompany with jump packs
2 tactical squads
1 baal predator
(this will take you to about 1000 pts)
Start off by reading the codex its free online.
Then the question is what kind of army are you wanting??? Tanks? Assaulter's? Rhinos? etc...
I personally play a heavy Assaulter army with generally no tanks, all units bar one have jet packs.
Others use lots of rhino's using the speed, c/c dreads or BAAL predators etc..
You'll gerenerally be safe by purchasing some Assault Marines, a Chaplain, a unit of DeathCompany and a devestator or tatical squad with some heavy weapons
Much must be risked in war.

Get 2 tactical squads, they are the backbone and should be maxed for heavy weapon goodness, though you can put them into combat squads for efficiency against different opponents. If you go mechanized, which it sounds like you aren't then forget assault squads (or take just one small one) and instead go for as many tanks as possible, not really likely for the points you're looking at. As such I'd suggest 2 tactical squads, an assault squad, a chappie (maybe a libbie if you like them, but if so, Mephiston is THE most unfair libbie in the game at the moment so take him) and then theme your army from there, though that should cover your 750pts.

Mephiston is a beast, a wrecking crew of a librarian. If you're looking for the theme of the modern BA, it's a brutal assault army, but if you want a more pre-heresy themed BA, you may want to go calmer with more shooty.
If you're after pre-heresy Blood Angels, don't use the BA codex at all.
Reason: The Death Company is a result of Sanguinius's death. Which happened at the end of the Heresy.
Do I need to point out the flaw here?
Anyway, as a reccomendation, I would say: Grab yourself at least one Tactical Squad. These guys are what make Marines awesome. The ability to multi-task (ie: do a bit of everything) is one of the most underrated traits of the Space Marines. Sure, many units are more 'efficient' if kitted out for one task and one task only, but Tactical Squads (esp. Blood Angels and Dark Angels) are not one of them.
Grab a Power Fist'd Sergeant, a special weapon and a heavy weapon, and watch them do anything and everything you could wish for.
You will also need some Assault Marines to act as the Death Company. Jump Packs are definately worth the points, especially when compared to a Rhino (IMO).
A Captain or Chaplain is probably your next port of call. Blood Angels Librarians are very much a support HQ imo, and is probably only worth bringing along as a second HQ in games >1750pts.
Thems my opinions anyways.
