I have been weighing the options of both and just cant pick one over the other. The salamanders sound cool, with a signum in every squad, but I like the venerable dread and easy paint scheme for the Iron hands...
or possibly even iron warriors?

i would say go with whatever army you like the fluff of the most, and which youll take most satisfaction out of painting well, im not familiar with the fluff behind the iron hands, but what ive read of the salamanders seems really cool
think of it this way if you play hoards alot sallies
if you like cc? b angels
all round black dragons (or other vannila chapter)
spambot kill tally: 79
[16:19] <@Alzer> Arky's right though
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> I know he is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> He usually is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> Sometimes it's intentional.
[00:01] <+zubus> i love you, ya skirt wearin nothern monkey! ^_^
Hooray! Another Salamanders player! So, you can't decide? Think about it this way. Slamanders can have either two flamers, or a Multi-melta AND a meltagun in their squads (among other weapons). Combined with a Signum, you've got some serious tank-busting power there. The Salamanders Mantle is also amazing, a tad expensive but very much worth it on a powerful character that's CC oriented and will rush up to the enemy. Iron Hands, they're fine, but since they are very new I can't pass judgment quite yet. Iron Warriors? Sure. Nice ranged capabilities, and all those obliterators make for fun killin'.
Roll a D6.
1-2: Iron Warriors
3-4: Iron Hands
Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>another annoying thing i hate: 47,000 similies in one post. just thoght id throw that in there and see if anybody else hates it as much as i do.</div>
Iron Warriors are chaos. I'm not really sure how they figure into the "Iron hands or Salamanders" question since you're talking about a completely different army and set of models.
Actually waldo, Iron warriors play more like a space marine army than chaos, if you play them fluffy (which I would, no daemoic stuff, no gifts no nothin).
But now ive got another conundrum!
someone told me that in the next codex any space marine chapter can take venerable dreads. If this is true, thats half of the goodness of Iron hands out the window.
I am kinda leaning towards Salamanders at this point though, I've got this mental image of 6 man squads with 2 flamers popping out of dual lascannon razorbacks. and chaplains with free thunderhammers, and cheaper terminators. I would also go fluffy, and give all my ind. characters combi-flamers to bring my flamer count up
anyone play salamanders or Iron hands that can vouch for em?
Haemonculus Coven Dark Eldar
I know a friend that is building the army. If you plan to assault....don't. If your opponents are anal then the I 3 sucks. Around here we have a house rule for salamanders to have I 4 since they don't always fight on there home planet(read fluff)
Also if you really really really wanted to you can give non characters artifacer armor for like 15pts, besides that there alright.

The -1I making them I3 really has no effect on them at all. Free thammers to chappies, master-crafting and art armor points down sized...lots of flamers and multi-meltas?
I say go salamanders there pros far out way the cons.
I hate to play the Devil's advocate here...but umm there IS a reason for the I3
Look at nto onyl all the WARGEAR, btu also the untis and for god's sake TERMIES>..that are so much cheaper!
In my mind, and Im' not allt hat assault oriented anyway..but..cheaper Termies makes the decision by itself. The I3 is for balancing. But, lemme say one thing..
Yeah, I3 , but our Termies always bash their fists through otehr things last anyway right?
More Termies+Less Points=Happy SM player

I'd have to agree, if i weer you i'd play salamanders
