Im aiming for all infantry. such as escalation i dont have anything i Cant deploy. Now i want CC terminators. as i feel shooting wastes their talent. (not including AC those rock) I want to run 8 CC ones and add in a librarian in terminator armor. (vanilla marines probably but if any traits help, go for it let me know) i want it to be competative, everything else I have pretty much down but these guys. So what do you think i should do?
1750 - Imperial Guard
1750 - Space Marines
2250 - Imperial Navy
2500 - Dwarfs
It is actually in CC when terminators lose a lot of what they are good at. you get a lot from a basic termintor
1. storm bolter - its better than a bolter because it will alway fore 2 shots a t 24"
2. heavy weapon - sounds like you are playing with the generic codex so that would be 2 assault cannon (i dont need to say more)
3. power weapon and lots of powerfists - heavy infantry? tanks? you name it they will take it down
terminators are a fire support unit and counter assault,, they are some of the best defensive assault units in the game. stick a unit in some good cover and your opponent will not be able budge them without considerable effort.
If you really want cc termies take a landraider crusader, i know that it goes against your all infantry but that is the only way they are going to be effective.
I do apologise if these comment come across a little short but I have been playing deathwing for a few years now and think i have a pretty good understanding on how termintors work.
True, that. But you need not forgo the Assault Termies.
I found a very powerful, deal-with-all-comers squad to be 8 men.
Sergeant with Storm Bolter, Purity Seals, & Chainfist
2 with Hammers
5 with Claws
You don't HAVE to take it, but it does work.
I do prefer shooty Termies however.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
if your going for 8 men then just take a mix of everything, few lightining claws, few power fsts, few storm hammer, a good general mix and mach!
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.

Pretty much the only 'effecient' way to use assault termies is with a LRC.
A squad of 8 is pretty hard to kill, but your opponent can still run away from them, should he want, and as you only move 6", you're going to have a hard time catching them.
As far as weapons goes, they can *only* have twin Claws or a Hammer & Shield, there is no option to give Assault terminators SBs & Power Fists, without buying them for the sergeant at a ridiculous points cost.
If you want to be foot stomping, get a squad of regular termies with a pair of assault cannons. While your enemy can still run (or walk slowly) away from you, they have to do it when you're 24" away, not when you're 12".
Librarians are probably the best HQ choice for Termie Armour, but are much better off Drop Podding into the middle of the enemy lines, to make the most of their (mainly short ranged) abilities.
PS. There was recently a huge thread on how to use Assault Terminators effectively, next time, please use the search feature...!

I've found that my termie chaplain w/ 3 LC (sometimes 5) and 2 TH/SS works real well. Normally I deepstrike them along with some GKs behind the opponent. This leaves them inbetween my combat units and my shooty units. If they run, they'll be gunned down by plasma, but if they stay put, they'll be torn up by the assault squads.
Though I have doubts about how well this would work on tyranids.

it depends on the chapter. For normal space marines that's not possible. But my friend who plays Space Wolves seems to be able to have a squad with a mix of everything terminators use. I think its the same way with Dark angels but don't quote me on that.
The only thing with deathwing though is that you are limited to 5 man only squads with only 1 heavy weapon
