Basically, two awesome armies. A tough, though choice that I want some input on. I'm not 100% sure yet if I want to spend roughly $1000 on a army. (Units are about double the cost of regular models, and my last two armies roughly cost me $500) But if I decide I want to, which one should I do? I feel like Elysians might be a better buy because their fluffy rules are tourny legal, while death korps aren't. Such a tough choice, both armies are absolutely beautiful.
Brew, if you got money for it, go Ellysian all the way. Those models are HAWT. Also, how cool would it be to actually field a full army of them.... man, I'm getting butterflies just thinking about the possibilities...
TSg.t Zakarius Clay
142nd Cadian, Stationed Planet Skyfall B
4th Brigade, 1st Battalion, 1st Co.
'The Pathfinders', Drop Team - 6
Pssst.... give me kudos....
that is one of the most difficult choices... wow, i love 'em both... but i love krieg just a smidgen more, i just found out... krieg it is! (for me anyways)
I love the Korps, dont get me wrong, expecially since I decided to go the cheaper way of just ordering the Gorgon squads and slapping bases on them, seems a better buy to me. Those Elysians you can always just spend money getting the sophisticated units from FW, then the bits for conversion of the plastic kits. The later would be more cost effective in the end, but its up to you.
To me Korps = old school
And Elyssians = Starship Trooper-ish
ok Personnaly I have an Elysian army so my vote is clear. I have to say life aint simple with them, it needs skill to play, but found a tourney the other week that allowed them and so went and won
both Kreig and Elysians can be used for standard codex IG armies, the issue with Elysian, far more than Krieg, is the models, the standard squad comes with GL and demo charge, great if you are using FW rule, less so for codex IG, you nee to use the special weapons squads and support squads for top ups. also other stuff that causes isses for this are drop sentinels armed with multi meltas or heavy bolters and the aircraft, the vulture is the dogs whatsits, valks less so but neither are standard codex legal:
I have 70 odd total plus a squad of stormies, the sentinels and the vulture

Everything you have been told is a lie!
it really depends on your playing style the eleysians are light highly mobile infantry. While basically every unit is capable of deep striking, they completley lack any sort of real armor support and are dependent on vultures and valkyries to eliminate the enemies armor (yes i know drop sentinals can but face it tank vs sentinel statistically sentinel loses). A Krieg army on the other is still very mobile if mechanised and has the capacity to field heavy armor. I myself prefer Krieg but then Im already working on a krieg army.
As a committed Drop-Trooper myself (alas using doctrines and standard models....damn my bank balance) I would go elysians, they look fun, and tell me you dont love those lasguns. I dare you.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940
