I have an army painted for the Armageddon campaign that consits of all Steel Legion. Right now I would like to try out a Grenadier army. The group I play with is very W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. I would like to do minimal conversions so, do you think the basic Steel Legion trooper look the part of a Grenadier, do the old storm troopers look the part of veterans, and do the Kaskarin models look like they could be Storm Troopers? Thanks for any help...
You can do many things to make grenadiers. With some conversions, the basic steel legion trooper could look the part. I suggest you buy: plasticard, wire, and greenstuff. Mail order cadian vox-packs, all the attenas, and attach wire. Clip of the lasgun power pack, and connect the wires to form a basic hellgun like shape. The goggles on the steel legion make them look cool and elite. I suggest pinning tiny pieces of plasticard to the models to make them look like carapace armour. You can also make them look like the death korps of krieg grenadiers from forgeworld with minimal conversion. Try this link:
I really hope i helped!!!!!!
Honestly I think the Steel legion figures could easily be used to represent storm troopers/ grenadiers for a nice alternative. That way you can still use the regular guardsman models for traditional guard. It would be a nice way to update your army without wasting figures. You could also use them as an iron fists squad
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
-The basic troops would work for grenadiers. Just do what Imperator said (Kasrkin backpacks would also look good as an alternative to the vox packs)
-The old storm troopers can stay storm troopers.
-For veterans, you could use basic steel legion troops, but add some stuff on them like trophies, gear, etc. Or, (if you don't mind the price) krieg models may work. If you're going to carapace armor the vets, you could do the plasticard thing.
