A decent yet underused piece of equipment
Why even bother putting it in the codex
Alright, this bit of wargear has been the subject of many laughs in my gaming community. I like them for the fluff of my army, and helps me to justify using DKOK models without running a DKOK army. But still, what do you think of the humble Chem-Inhaler? I see very few armies out there that use them, and would like to learn your views this particular item.
Note to Mods: I have yet to find any topic on chem inhalers, and that is why i started this one. If there is and i did not notice it, i appologize in advance.
ya know...no one said you could not reply as well i was hoping for some feedback, if anyone can spare it, from you veteran players out there.
I use it. No negative penalties is just freaking SPECTACULAR. That plus LD9 guarantees that your entire army is staying on the board.
If you think Mathammer doesn't work and dice cannot be predicted, there's a whole field of mathematics called probability that would like to disagree.
hmm let's see: squad's down to 4 members, takes a casualty, and breaks...bam squad gone...no regroup...how sad:'( Now: same scenario with chem-inhalers, boom squad pinned and can be used next turn...duh! why not?!
JOIN MY SQUAD IN THE SONS OF THE LIBRARIUM THREAD, I NEED TACTICAL MARINES! I PLAN TO CONVERT UP A SQUAD TO "COUNT AS" LoTD IN MY SMarine ARMY
I had been under the impression that many people didnt prefer to use the inhalers. While I agree that 9 LD across the board that cant take negitives is awesome, and is nothing to scoff at even if thats 10 pts down the drain per squad, seems cheaper than fooling with Commisars that like to kill ANYTHING in sight and banners that are here today gone tomorrow.
I am not a fan of it, but I can see why people would use it. For me personaly, pinned is just as bad as falling back except with falling back you have a chance to get out of harm's range while pinned gives you a little more staying power. So, I personaly think that both are bad and would rather spend pts on a Ld9 master vox network or simply astick to Ld bubbles than use up a doctrine and in the end pay more pts for less potential. But than again this is just my opinion, fluffwise its an amazing upgrade. I mean who wouldnt want an army of drug aticts, alcoholics and p** heads storming across the field with no sence of self preservation?
I love chems, but I also run a Droop Trooping Steel Legion so not sure how much credit I have. Like every one else said no negative mods on leader ship is awesome. the Pinning thing can be annoying when you would rather have a unit run, but it hasn't been too much of a hassle for me to stop using it
If you do things right people wont be sure if you have done anything at all.
i never considered chem inhalers because i always designed my armies as straight laced, i think it's great for fluffreasons though: a convict army, ganghivers etc
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
