With bolt pistols for tactical troops making a major reappearance in 40K I wonder if GW will have the sisters equipped with them whenever they go for revision. The sisters models actually already all have pistol holsters on them, despite having never been given an option to carry pistols in any of their army lists. Does anyone think bolt pistols would be of any actual use to sisters though? I have literally never charged a battle or celestian squad in any game ever, that is what I have seraphim for. I can see their utility for marines who can fight well in cc even when not equipped for it, but not for the sisters. All I am afraid of is that they will be given them and then be charged a point for them. That would place a typically 30 to 40 point surcharge on a typical army for me, while contributing precisely nothing to my combat ability. Still the new DAngles got them for nothing.
IF they go for the revision, and I doubt they will.whenever they go for revision
I don't think there are enough sales, and I think they will let the WH codex rot away indefinitely like Orks and Dark Eldar.
My guess is IF a revision is made, I don't think we'll see bolt pistols distributed any differently.
Sisters Repentia: Wow what beautiful models! Wow what terrible rules! -stjohn70
There are times... yes few of them... but times when assaulting is an option. Like, when I am playing Tau, IG or even Eldar Guardian Hordes. Having two attacks in Close Combat with a 3+ armor save would be nice. Better than being shot to death by the more numerous enemy.
This is my siggie! It is all pretty and stuff!
I think bolt pistols would be terrific, especially on Celestians. Having a base 2 attack that hits on 3's coupled with divine guidance would be great in CC. Even when charged, they would get 18 attacks (not including the VSS). That should on average net two DG 6's making them power weapons. That alone could give you enough wounds to win combat. I would love it if they gave the sisters the same bolter/pistol/ccw that every chaos troop has in their new dex. While at it, I would like to see Seraphim get the same jump pack rules that Chaos get allowing them to DS.
I have charged with Celestians but it is not a common occurance. It happened when playing one of the 'ard boy scenarios last week(the one where troops are in reserve and can come on from any board edge). The celestians wiped out an 8 man tac squad in CC in two turns. Generally though, they are popping out of rhinos and shooting and then tend to get counter charged. 4th Ed rhino rules preclude assaulting after movement.
I have read several times that they plan to continue supporting every army that has a codex. but not to look for new armies that aren't already in codex form. Looking at the last year and the emerging pattern, they want to update the books and clean them up for 4th ed. Witch hunters and daemon hunters and IG all need another pass. If you beefed sisters up a bit and gave them plastics, I could see Sisters becoming a very popular army.
Slow down there folks. Following GWs current trend Sisters may get BP and Bolter, but no WAY will they be given Bolter, BP and CCW. Even loyalist marines don't get that! So you would have the option to shoot pistols and assault, but no base 2 attacks!
It'd be excited seeing a footslogging unit armed with twinlinked pistols.8X
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
However, I do think its possible that having all three weapons like chaos marines could happen. Its true loyalist marines dont have it now. That or possibly giving sisters a sarissa type squad upgrade or something similar to the way kroot rifles give you an extra attack. Will they make it available to all sisters? I'd say probably not. But Celestians would make sense. Its a squad that has the special ability of hitting on 3's but is lacking in two areas. The first being that out of rhinos, they often can't charge and have no other suprise method of entering battle like DS, Fleet or pods. The second being that they are an elite squad which with holy hatred that cry out for another attack.
Some would argue that CC is not the sister's forte'. However, having some CC ability in an army that is set up to fire within 12" to get the most out its firepower makes sense. IG have rough riders, Tau have kroot. Before nay-saying kroot, I take a squad in a lot of my other armies. They are incredibly effective in forests. Recently I had a squad worth 127 points take out a squad of 8 bezerkers in CC. You can make most armies do several roles. In the new dexes, Chaos and Eldar have it in spades. You can make a fast chaos assault army with DS and raptors. You can make essentially a sister like army using K-sons and rhinos. A shooty mech army with tanks. Eldar has similar options. I think there is a trend there with the new dexes. One trick armies are going away. I think they are moving in a direction to make all the units attractive by giving the armies utility. I've said it before in another thread. GW wants you to buy a lot of models. What is better than by making all the units viable so you want to have 4000 points and can play a lot of variations? It makes a lot of buisness sense. I know its working with me. I am spending a lot more on eldar so I can play several different flavors.
I cant actually beleive your comparing a chaos space marine with a battle sister theres a reason they come equiped that way, think about it.However, I do think its possible that having all three weapons like chaos marines could happen.
BEN DIESEL FTW!!!
