In the sample armies in the Dark Angels codex (the bottom one) I seem to be a bit confused. In the hq slot it says Apothecary(???) and Chaplain. Shouldn't the apothecary be in a command squad, or did I just happen to miss some rules.
no thats is correct
Actually there are several things wrong with that army list. Don't go by it. For example, the heavy support shows as 2 picks, a Devastator squad with a Rhino and a Razorback. The squad is too big to fit in the razorback, so they must have purchased the Rhino as a transport upgrade. You cannot buy the Razorback alone, only as a transport upgrade, so it is an illegal pick. The Apothacary can only be obtained as an upgrade to the command squad, which must be at least four strong, joins the HQ character, and is considered part of one HQ pick, so its totally incorrect. They also show five models listed as special characters in the army, no way to have two HQ and five diffent special characters in a legal force organization. So look at the pretty picture, but take nothing from the organizational listing.
As Wolfraider said, purely bogus

I could have sworn that one of the white-dwarves (around... 250) allowed you to take apothecaries on their own or techmarines on their own as a hq slot each so you could have an apothecary with your termies, and a techmarine with you devastators and predator
