    Inquisitor setup

So I've been toying with the idea of starting a witch hunter army up and I want to use an inquisitor lord as my HQ. But the biggest problem I've always had is how do you kit him and his retinue out?

any suggestions for different effective uses for him and his pals?

    Thanks!

I normally go for the plasma retinue, one plasma cannon 2 plasma guns 3 sages 2churiguns and 3 acotlyes with carpace armour and a bolter each and one familiar. the lord has bolter the 30pt psyhic power and word of the emperor.also inquistoral mandate

note that this is when playing WH with no allies other wise I tend to use a DH Inqusitor Lord. The DH wargear options and weapon options better fit an inqusitor or inqusitor lord for they are less restriced and gain more versitility.

if i want my lord for close combat i give him a force weapon plasma pistol and psychic hood
and a retinue of 2 crusaders 2 familiars or 3 if against eldar 2 chirugeons.

but for a shooty i basically go for a plasma setup as well minus the inquisitorial mandate but if i've got a elite slot to spare i give a normal inquisitor it with a plsama pistol and power weapon and stick her in a unit heading for the front line:drinking:

This is another topic that comes up often.

for shooty, I'm not so crazy about all plasma in a retinue. sure, it's a lot of high Str low AP shots. I prefer using Heavy Bolter Servitors though. For a basic shooty retinue:

    1Plas Cannon Servitor
    2Heavy Bolter Servitors
    2sages

a DH Inq. Lord with Psycannon and Mystic
    or
a WH Inq. Lord with StormBolter and Psycannon bolts, and chiurgeon

If I've got points, I'll throw on a Psychic hood. A DH Inq. makes for a better shooty retinue. I only use the WH Inq Lord if I need a WH HQ, and don't want to use a cannoness.

For Assaulty (poorer choice for an Inq)
I'd prob go with the WH Inq. Give him a force weapon, give him 3 acolytes in carapace with mancatchers, 1combat servitor with Powerfist, 2Crusaders, 2 chiurgeons, and a priest

it adds up pretty fast. Then on top of that, you've got to deliver the retinue. I think there are better ways to spend points than on a CC Inq.

On shooty retinues I usually like adding acolytes with carapace armor and bolters to add some 'ablative wounds'.

This seems to be the most common and ,in my opinion, the best standard inquisitor for an elites slot.

A nice and simple, yet really effective set up is:

    Inquisitor Lord(Boltgun)
Retinue: 3 Heavy Bolter Gun Servitors, 1 Acolyte (Carapace Armour, Boltgun), 2 Chirurgeons

    160Pts.

Simple and effective. If kept in cover, it can easily last the whole game without giving over nay VPs.
