Alright, I am completely new to Warhammer 40k, and after spending hours and hours looking through different armies I decided to pick Space marines. So then I discovered there is certain chapters. Just different colors? I THINK NOT. Different rules(most of the time) and different strategies. So the chapters that are interesting is this: Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Ultramarines. I am not basing it right now on attack styles, after you respond I think I might need your IM name, so you can tell me what to buy...thankz!
Dude what about Dark angels or Black Templar?
In my opinion please don't go for ultra marines because one to vanilla and two I see everybody where I play with ultramarines and occasionally space wolves. I think you would enjoy the more special rules armies.
But if you like them I can't stop you its your money.
Right now I am starting black templars and they are sweet assault troops with their champion.
So it comes down to Blood angels, and Space wolves, explain how Dark Angels are any better...
You really want to look at your style of play. Space marines are "do it all" army, they are strong in most areas, the difference between chapters is fluff and generally one area of strength...
Are you wanting an aggressive attacking army, fire power army, an army with lots of vehicles or an army with lots of mobility... you need to find out what strength your wanting.
I for example play Blood Angels, other than loving the fact they are 8foot tall super blood hungry vampires I love the mobility of them and the aggressiveness they can field.
Don't be put off Ultramarines, they have wicked cool honour guards and I'm sure lots of people out their love their fluff also...
Much must be risked in war.
Blood Angel Stormraven Conversion Work In Progress.
If you have time can you make a list of the units I should get to start of BloodAngels? The most I can spend right now is $100. Then where do I get that white dwarf with the codex in it...thanks.
Salamanders. Awesome color scheme, badass fluff, lotsa special gear, and dragon skulls.
Or you could always pick my other favorite group of awesome marines, the Star Hounds
Honestly, you need to just determine what sounds the most wicked and epic to you. Lotsa guns, or melee. Then, pick a cool color scheme. Then, you got your chapter. You could always make up your own...
A swirl of color and sound, a multisense blur I taste with my fingers and, and me at the center...
Ok here is a small and breif summary for you.
Blood Angels: Have "Death company," names tells you what they cause. Good at close combat and have there own special tank the Bal Predator. Twin-linked assault cannon on top which is rending you should get rule book and read that if you haven't already.
Space Wolves: Also army known for close combat. Mainly one of the things they do best. I would say that they are more difficult to understand than the blood angels and or ultramarines.
