Which one has brought you more success in a 1500-2000 point game?
2x Dreadnoughts w/ TLLC + ML or 2x Landraiders?
This question is based on a pure Grey Knight army.
i would say that an army with 2 dread would IMHO perform better than with 2 LR, the landraiders cost a lot and the pts saved with 2 dreads could go into more troops etc.
But this is not based on personal experience
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

The Dutch Legion
hmmmm thats a toughy
at 1k Id say 2x Raiders, not much can destroy them at this point cost, and its always good to see your opponents face when you slap them on the table lol
At above 2k I would have to go for the Dreads, they are much better at this point level simple because they help with the serious probelm Grey Knights have which is low numbers
The Inquisition - 38-2-3
Tomb Kings - 1-1-1
Grey Company Elves - 16-1-3
Saurons Force of the Black - 8-1-3
It's better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven
I have to say for any normal game go with the dreadnoughts, because the dreadnoughts are so much cheaper you can more easily get more Grey Knights.

If your going for anti-vehicle your getting two twin linked LC and two Missle shots compared two the TL LC shots. Basicalyl you pay for higher hit percentage and surviability. If your worried about points though I say you could go for one Land Raider or Two Dreads. If your thinking about two Land Raiders why not go for Three dreads giving you six possible hits
I'm not here for the respect, just here to spread the clarity of a very complicated game
If you know your opponent is lacking major anti tank troops or vehicles I would consider using a Landraider in a low points game.
Else I would go for the Dreads.
You need/use more Heavy Support choices
2 Dreads with TLLC already make a "better" Landraider (in the offensive, and imho also in the defensive because he/she has to hit more than one model)
More weapon options to choose from
If you still need anti tank weaponry after the 3 Heavy Support choices and maybe a Fast Attack (Seraphim) you can still induct IG platoons/a-fist squads.
Would any of you guys ever go for say.. TLLC + DCCW?
It would be a waste, the whole game you will find that you are using to shoot things at long range, meaning that the Claw would do nothing.
Now in my humble opinion, the c/c arm does nothing anyways, you only ever get 3 hits (on the charge, of which you'll only wound once or twice)... I dont rate c/c dreads unless you are Blood Angels and can get about 7 attacks on the charge.
Best set up is the TLLC / ML, sitting behind a building (limiting who can see him) and taking out tanks or heavy infantry.
I don't like LR's in anything less than 1500pts.. I see it as power gaming and lacks skill.
So my choice is the two (or three) Dreads. Not only are they cheaper that two LR's, but they can hide like a LR can't and can spread their fire if need be.
Much must be risked in war.
Blood Angel Stormraven Conversion Work In Progress.
Have you considered AC/ML combo? The AC has half the range of the TLLC, however, it has just as much tank busting capability. and combined with the ML, when you are walking into range of a tank, you can still use the ML to shoot at tanks and MC's.
Personally, I like the AC/ML, it gives you some really good anti-troops / anti-tank combo that can help out in an all comers list.
Though there still is something to be said for the TLLC/ML combo.
In general, unless feilding a water warriors list, or a list that is pure tanks, then dont take a land raider, they are large targets, and are less mobile than dreadnoughts, and at 1500 are still 1/6% of your points, which is still a lot of points to loose in one turn.
Hope this helps!
I find a Landraider good or bad...... They can be killed early in the game and be a complete waste of points, or they can absorb a tremendous amount of fire, deflect shooting away from Dreads or Transports, provide mobile cover for my Seraphim and deliver a squad of Termies into my enemies lines. Dreads are easily popped, but when a Landraider dies.....
