I'm still a newbie and I bought a Whirlwind. I am not sure if it requires line of sight or not. I looked in rulebook and didn't get a clear understanding.
So, in short: does Whirlwind require line of sight to its target?
in short, no it does not need line of sight.

Think of any ordnance weapon like a catapult. A Whirlwind is a vehicle that fires ordnance, as is the Space Marine Vindicator. Think of them as lobbing their bombs/bullets/nasty stuff straight up into the air, to come down on unsuspecting bad guys. So they don't need to see through the wall in the way.
The vindicator, however, still needs line of sight.
Any Guess Range weapon (clearly indicated in the weapon's profile) will not need a line of sight to fire.
Note. If it doesn't have line of sight its scatters 2d6 (taking highest) if it does have LOS then it only scatters 1d6.
Another note on guess range weapons, they will only hit the top of a building and not the floors below. :ballon:
