I was looking though peoples lists and I see Book mentioned several times. I am assuming it is the book of St Lucius. It seems a waste of points to have this in several squads. I find myself questioning giving it to my Canoness let alone anyone else.
I have only started playing recently so I may be missing out on understanding it's importance. I hope someone can clear up my confusion. Thanks
I only use it accasionaly use it but if your using inducted guard or other low leadership armies it's very usefull, and if you accasionally fail with your sisters or want them to hold longer under a massed assault it's really cool.
It is mostly useless, yes.
I use that book as an essential to most squads. There are plenty of times the unmodified Ld roll is useful.
Especially when being assaulted. When greatly outnumbered, ignoring the neg modifiers for under half, and 3:1 outnumbering helps. The book can turn a 10 strong SoB squad into a type of tarpit unit, giving us an effect similar to Fearless.
it is useful also for guard armies with WH allies, or WH with inducted guard.
I find I like not having to calculate up negative modifiers sometimes too. Especially at the end of a long tournament day.
Everything he said.
I find it very useful. I have one in almost every squad.
Cannoness always has it. That's a no-brainer.
Unmodifiable Ld 10?
It is nice not having to do those annoying calcs.
Sisters Repentia: Wow what beautiful models! Wow what terrible rules! -stjohn70
Books are absolutely essential. Two or three girls standing outnumbered 10 : 1 by gaunts and holding them locked in combat throught the opponent's turn? Yes Please! What's even better is that the book is a *MAY* rule, by some miracle the vet survives another round and you want her to run away in the opponent's assault phase? You can do that too!
Example from a game I played a few weeks ago. Canoness with Eviscerator assaults a TLLC/ML dread. Dice betray me, she does no damage and he scores a wound. With X(small number!) point book? LD10 test. Without X point book? LD6 test and face sweeping advance (and she would have been off the board anyway, he was a podder.)

I find them very worth the points. It may not be the most usefull item in the armoury, but one of the best for the points.;Y

The guys at TO told me to put them in every squad.

It's one of the best wargears in any Codex, never leave home without it.
They're dirt cheap, hardly a waste of points even if you equip your entire army with them. Having a wall of power armour that won't budge no matter what you throw at them is a good thing, or as a polar opposite, having a single heroic squad hold out against twice their number gives some humor to the game.
