    dreadnought

so I want to add a dreadnought to my army. I play a mostly Termi army, and I usually play against Imperial Guard. What do people think is the best way to kit it out?

AC/DCCW, any other way is a disgrace to the hero piloting it!

    And I like it best.

AC/DCCW is great, but works best if you take two of them. That helps ensure that at least one survives long enough to get into the thick of it. Remember, never forget to take extra armor and smoke launchers! I've yet to have a game where they weren't worth the piffling number of points they cost.

Really the only other viable alternative is TLLC/ML to help fill the lack of Anti-Tank, anything else tends to be sub-par. If you could post the Army list you want to use it with it would help us decide what would work best with your setup.

While it is Fluffy to take the AC/DCCW Dread, fluff doesn't always equate to having the right tool for the job.
Against IG you really do need a TLLC/ML Dread, and 2 (of any configuration) is by far better than 1. There will undoubtably be quite a few high AV Vehicles running around.
And as others always say - EA and Smoke.

It depends on what you else you have and who you are playing against.

For a tourney list, I would:

1> Never take one, unless you have a Landraider. If so I like the AC/CCW version.

2> If you take two, take one TLLC/ML variant and one AC/CCW.

3> If you take three I like one TLLC/ML and two AC/CCW versions.

    Cheers, DH

The question is what is your army missing? If you don't have problems destroying enemy armor, take the TLLC/ML, if you stuggle to kill hordes of enemies take the AC/DCCW. If you play termie heavy I would deffinately not take a plasma cannon as killing 3+saves shouldn't be as much of a problem. Otherwise I agree with diggums, except I would take 2 tank killers, before I take a third which would be for horde killing...I think GKs do a good job of killing hordes most of the time.

I think you can get by just fine relying entirely on GK dreads for your heavies, against any opponent. (I do, anyway.) However, unlike Diggums, I think that an every all-comer's list should start with 2 TLLC/ML dreads -- just about the only way to get anti-tank weaponry shy of extremely expensive land raiders or inducted IG -- and, points permitting, take a 3rd with AC/DCCW.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I play an almost exclusive GK army that is termi heavy. I use a land raider crusader, inquisitor. I own a group of inquisitorial storm troopers, and a vin. assassin. I also use orbital bombardment and brother captain stern.

my most common enemy is imp. guard, but I play against many other armies. the guard I usually play against has two lists, one seems to be a mechanized list and has something like 7 chimera and a demolisher and some basilisks. the other is a standard shooty guard army.
