Well it took me a bit, but I am very happy with this background. I will eventually post my Army List.
The Blood Wolves are a chapter formed almost purely by accident. As the Second Founding chapter of the Space Wolves Legion, the Wolf Brothers, was being eradicated for unstable mutations a single Wolf escaped the purge. He would be found drifting in space by the Blood Angels, and at first they were about to purge him for the Wulfen in him was fighting its way outside.
Yet Lord Mephiston peered deep into the Wolfs’ mind and just as he had done with the Black Rage he was able to help the Wolf. It took 8 full days before the Wulfen inside him calmed and the Wolf passed out. When he awoke he was standing before Commander Dante.
The Wolf was then given the name Tryani Bloodlust, and began to train with the Blood Angels and became a great champion. Yet his fighting style and his demeanor made him almost unbearable to the upper class of Baal. He ate and drank like Russ, and would sing great songs that would often interfere with Blood Angel rituals.
Dante counseled Tryani and the Wolf made a strange request. He asked that he be sent to find Russ. Dante looked at Mephiston and then Tryani and then agreed, but he wouldn’t send Tryani alone. Dante ordered that his staff to aid Tryani in forming an army, seeing that the Blood Angels couldn’t be spared to aid him.
Tryani spent the next years traveling to harsh worlds and soon he recruited an Army. The Blood Angels implanted Tryani’s Gene Seed into the new Space Marines and were surprised to see that the mutation that almost claimed Tryani was lost, and it took only 3 days in a cage for a Blood Wolf to overcome and control his Wulfen. Of course there were those that failed, as with all cursed Gene Seeds.
With his army raised Dante gave Tryani a gift giving his new Blood Wolves the Blood Red Armor of the Blood Angels Chapter, yet the shoulders would be given Wolf Markings instead of the Blood Tear. Tryani and his new Chapter lead themselves on a great Hunt through the Galaxy, and they visited many worlds.
Those that knew the Space Wolves would greet Tryani’s men and tell them of their brothers in grey. After meeting many who spoke of the grey wolves Tryani traveled to Fenris. There the Great Wolf was puzzled where this man in red came from. He challenged Tryani to a drinking contest, saying that if he was a Son of Russ then he could drink like one.
Tryani beat the Great Wolf and with a boost of laughter the Great Wolf invited this lost brother to Feast. The Blood Wolves landed and the following nights were filled with drink and song. After the celebration ended Tryani spoke with the Great Wolf and said that he would keep in touch on his journey for Russ.
As the Blood Wolves left a Wolf Priest approached the Great Wolf and told him that Tryani was the Lost Wolf Brother. The Great Wolf turned to the Wolf Priest and said, “Then he will be the one to find our Lost Father.”
I hope people are having fun.
Very good. I like it very much. Even though I think he should have lost the drinking contest. But thats just me. Good luck with your army.
Im the Lesser of two Yobos
Pretty good way of explaining the red colors of your Wolves! I hope to see some models!

Yeh, seems good stuff and I too would love to see some photos. I'd also be intrested in seeing some of your Blood Sept Tau.
My main fluff question is where did your character get the geneseed from for a chapter? Is it still very small and working from his own or.. well I don't have anotheridea for where they got hold of some Space Wolf geneseed from???
The geneseed is simple. The Wolf Brothers Chapter was the only Second Founding chapter of the Space Wolves, yet they were erraticated because of the mutations with the geneseed that was given to them.
So the geneseed in Tryani is the one that was given to him by the Ill fated creators of the Wolf Brothers Chapter. As you read the Lord Mephiston was able to spare Tryani and as in him it grew strong. When he created the Blood Wolves they took parts of his geneseed and gave it to his new Space Marines.
I see the Geneseed almost like a liver, you can take part of it, and it will grow into a completly new liver.
I hope people are having fun.
Yep, that's exactly the answer I was looking for. I can see that the chapter has been built up slowly from the one geneseed (although that is an amazing feat in itself) but other sources place it at being about a century to create a chapter during a 'regular' founding. So I would think it maybe best if you designed the Blood Wolves as either a very small chapter (maybe hit-n-run tactics or somesuch) or maybe the Great Wolf gave a geneseed donation when they were good and drunk.
Okay - the only thing I have a problem with is the time frames of all this. The Tyrani is a second founding marine, right? the founding straight after the horus heresy? How long was he floating in space for Mephiston and Dante to pick him up (current Blood angels - approx 10000 years younger?)
I really think you should give the blood angles some reason to care about this character, before they spare him. For example, perhaps Tryani crash lands accidentally on a world gripped by war. Suppose a small ork war band had befallen the planet. The imperial defenders are all but overwhelmed. Tryani nearly driven mad in his wolfen state must rely purely on instinct. Seeing battle, he rushes in. Perhaps at this point he appears more monster then space marine. Perhaps tryani fights with such astonishing will that he breaks the ork charge at a pivotal moment. Shattering their organization, forcing the orks to withdrawal. Some of the Imperial guard describe him as a horrible monster, but acknowledge that he tore through the orks. Whilst others call him an angel for the emperor. Suppose in his wulfen state he follows the orks keep into a jungle.
Upon the blood angles arrival they hear word of these deeds, the mysterious creature who chased the orks off deep into the hellish jungles of whatever planet this is. Knowing the orks are a plague, the blood angels set out to wipe them clean from the planet. Upon hearing the news of this interesting individual Mephiston himself heads to the planet.
As Mephiston arrives, the blood angels are heavily engaged, battling the orks in dense jungle. A very poor situation for the blood angels indeed. Suddenly the Tryani appears again. He lunges from a brush, taking the orks completely by surprise, his howls strike fear even in the mightest of orks. Tryani's armor covered in blood, and dirty from many long weeks in the jungle, Mephiston might have thought he where a death company, but his charges where less coordinated or graceful even by measures of the death company, Tryani was different. Even in his crazed state the wolf could tell who the enemy followed, he charged the warboss directly. The low cunning of the ork war boss left him surprise at the head strong charge. Tryani ducked and spun around the huge blade of the warboss. The wolf tearing the boss apart until little was left. Tryani raised the boss's head high in the air, howling once again. Few things strike fear in the hearts of orks, but this was on of them. As the orks retreated again, they soon realized it was far to late. In their stunned moments after their leaders death, the blood angles has encircled them, there would be no escape.
Tryani did not peruse, instead he admired his prize. Mephiston could plainly see the wolfen within Tryani but could not kill him - just as he could not kill a death company. Nor could he kill such servant of the emperor.
Id put your own spin on it, but something like this, to give Mephiston a reason to spare the wolf.
Seriously this it a very good idea, and since it really just explains why Mephiston spared it. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to add this to the background.
I hope people are having fun.
