hello as can be seen by the title i have questions that could use answering about dark angles and how their armies are set up. the main part of this would be what units should be included, what should they be armed with and please keep two things in mind this army will be for tournaments and i would like a mixed army list containg both ravenwing and deathwing. thank you
PS this will be an 1850 point army so keep that in mind as well thanks.
Why don't you a) post a list up that you think may work so people can critique it or b) look through the army list section for ideas, and then post up a)
Really, it is not that hard to come up with an army list people - and it is actually quite enjoyable! Give it a go, just once?
I'd try searchy in the Army List section.
1850 gives you plenty of room for manouvre with one or two Deathwing Squads, a Vet squad, some transported Tacticals, Ravenwingbikes/attack bikes and either Devs or Predators as good solid heavy support.
Sit down with your Codex and rough a few list options out, then post in the Army List section to get some advice. I'll say to you what I say to folks over on the Bolter and Chainsword – we are not a list-writing service – rude as that might be it isn't intentional, but the only way to learn is to try it yourself as armies are quite finely attuned to the individual playing them.

Current armies: Deathwing and Grey Knights (I'd have more if my wife would let me)
I'm currently building up a DW and RW army as well. I wanted something that had the two together but was hard hitting for tournament.
First thing I can say about running a mixedwing army. Go stronger in iether RW or DW, but don't make it an equal split. For me, going more DW then RW seems to work well. So far I have Belial, and 3 units of termis, and a dread, and one fully kitted out FW squad(6 bikes AT and speeder). This makes a 1500 list.
What I'm planning on going further with to reach 1750 is some of the cheaper speeders with MM on them, and some 100 points predators. AC turret+HB sponces+storm bolter. Those tanks represent the standards 3rd or 4th company wing. And should lay down some serious firepower for mowing down troops.
Another big thing to keep in mind is to mix up your DW squads. I first tried going all assault weapons, or shooty, with AC in there. After some games, and recomendations, I'm mixing them, with 2 assault termis in a squad, 2 stormbolter/PF guys, and the heavy weapon guy.
Bikes are there to get your teleport homers on the board and DWA the termis where you want them. After that, the bikes can be sacraficed by assaulting stuff you don't want shooting at your termis, or running off to hide and grab objectives later. They can sometimes be useful to bring back around later in the game if your enemy is getting whittled down. Zip up the bikes to a flank and rapid fire all of them. Nice surprise attack at the end of the game to knock that last squad below scoring.
And if you take Belial or Sammael, at 1850 be sure to take advantage of the apoth and standard bearer. For Belial and termis the word is for sure take an apothocary to help survive being shot at. For the bikes the word is for sure take the standard, keep the squad at full 6 bikes, no combat squads, and power weapon or fist the SGT and assault with it first turn.
Age is a state of mind, and since I have no mind, I don't age.
